What are the things that we NEED to bring when we travel?

Hi guys. Since the holidays is almost up and almost, if not all, of us are planning to go on vacation or visit our loved ones whose not living with us. Now, I want to know what are your ideas on what things do we need to have on our checklist of "things to bring" when we travel. I know that some people would say that "travelling light" is ideal but there are also some who would prefer to have an excess baggage than worry of not bringing something with him/her. What do you think are the "must bring" when we travel? Thanks a lot! Enjoy the holiday!
