Hey how are you all doing? I was just reading this article and I hate to admit it. I might have to do some more digging and see what the catch is, but I think for now I am agreeing with AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez). I never thought that would be possible, but I think this one I am agreeing with her. So I am reading that she is pushing back and disagreeing with Nancy Polosi. So Polosi is against the banning of congress members holding and trading of stocks while in congress and AOC says they should be banned from doing so. Here is my take on this, members are making laws, they have influence over some companies, they have influence over who gets what government contracts. They have privileged information that you and I are not privileged to. This to me seems like an unfair advantage to them. If you look at Polosi you will know why she doesn’t want that to happen. Due to the fact they are talking about including spouses in this and her husband is an investor, and she is one of the richest members of congress due to his trading. Is it just coincidence that he lands some big earnings? Maybe. What you think? Should they still be able to trade stocks?

There is a lot that sitting members of Congress and their family members should be banned from doing. They should also have term limits, and they and the President and Vice President should have a mandatory "retirement" age of no older than seventy.

I agree with you. these politicians are so old and out of touch with the majority of the country. we have term limit on the president for a reason and I think it holds true on congress too. they should have the same thing. I would even say like a max of 10 years but there needs to be a limit for sure.

@Bensen32, yes. Congress should have set term limits for themselves when they set the one for the President. Considering their current terms, I believe their term limit should be eight years. And that can be per office (i.e.' eight years as a congressman, eight as a senator.

I agree with you. It would be an unfair advantage.
