"You need to write it on the clipboard..."

I stopped on my way home yesterday (1-5-22) to pick up some medicine. I knew I had a couple of scripts to pick up and I knew one of them was my hydrocodone. Most of the Walgreens, at least around here, close between 1:30 and 2 for lunch. I had some time to kill, so I went inside to see if I could find something I need inside. (No I didn't find it.) I then sat down to wait for the pharmacy to open again. It opens and the first two people get waited on. I think one needed either a vaccine, or COVID test, the other was picking up meds. I saw the tech pull out the controlled substance clipboard for the medication picker upper. Then a couple of young gals I've never seen before, granted I normally do the drive up, went in and one of them called me over. I tell her my name and she goes to pick up the medication. I have my card and my ID out. She comes back and looks at my ID. She starts doing things that are preparatory for the pharmacist to be called over. I wait. She's still doing stuff. "You need to write this down on the clipboard," I told her. "What?" I try to give her my ID - again. "You need to write this down on the clipboard." "What clipboard?" she asked. "The one for the controlled substances." "What?" Now I'm getting a little confused. I mean, she's young, apparently she's very newly hired, but I know her job better than she does... About that time one of the techs that's been there for years, walked by and heard. He stopped and explained that she needed to write my ID down because what if someone else came in and says he needs to get my medicine. Then later I come looking for my meds because I hadn't sent him to get it. After all that info is written down, we finally get the pharmacist to do the 'consult' and I have paid. She said she was sorry for the delay. I told her that I didn't want her to get in trouble because she hadn't written it down. She thanked me very much.

And this has never happened to you before? Did you find out which one was the "controlled substance"?

I have never had a pharmacy tech not know what to do, but I do normally go through the drive thru. And I knew which was is the controlled substance, I've been taking hydrocodone for almost 15 years. In fact, I'll take some as soon as I've got some food in me. If I don't I might as well go back to bed.

Well, George, you are almost a neighbor. I've been up in Many quite a number of times, my friend Maggiepie's family lived in Noble.

Everybody has "We're Hiring" signs out. I got a post card (I'm sure everyone in town did) to do Door Dash... yeah... nope. So, yeah, throw those new hires in the deep end...
