Why do we love two-dollar bills so much?

Some may ask what a $2 bill is worth and be surprised they are worth just that: $2. We get these at our local bank on a regular basis and use them as tips or gifts for young people. Some respond in shock because they thought they had been removed from the market long ago. No, my friends, they are still here! Although I haven't been here for several months, I sincerely hope all is well with everyone. We sold a home and did a temporary move so that we could move again. Downsizing has been great fun-not!

Who’s the guy in that bill?

That is Thomas Jefferson. He was the third president of the United States. Originally it was Alexander Hamilton on the bill.

@sol_cee Not my taste. I would like to cut most of that off but will never meet him I dare say.

I hope you're settling in now. We moved and downsized too and found it quite stressful and a very busy time.

Sometimes moving sounds like such a good idea, then you get started and remember all the work involved. Ugh. Just not fun, is it?

@JudyEv We've watched people toss good things in a dumpster when parents had to go to a facility. Some don't care about vintage or antique items. Really sad.

@PatZAnthony I really relate to your comment to Bonnie. Who will have to deal with all of the extra things if/when something happens to us? With that in mind, we are continuing to prune our belongings as much as possible. Of course, some of our belongings will mean nothing to those tidying up our affairs so will be easily disposed of. At least, one hopes so.

yes that is never fun having to move and down size. It's exhausting and it's sad to have to get rid of some things you always wanted to keep for life.

Fortunately, we were able to pass important things to family and friends. So many of us have more than we need. Why? Who will have to deal with all of the extra things if/when something happens to us?

Most things we were happy to pass along @bunnybon7 And it is nice to know someone else will get to enjoy items we just don't need.

Hello and welcome back. I know the stress that a move brings. I really would love if the Euro currency had 1 and 2 Euro banknotes, the smaller is the € 5 and it is a lot to give as a tip.

Money is something we all use, yet in the USA, many of us could not tell you who is on what coin or bill. We are supposed to have some money changes here, but after years of discussion, we are still wondering what they will be.

@PatZAnthony - I love your system, you even have $1 bills. The "smallest" Swiss Francs bill is CHF 10, too many coins.

We ask for these at the bank and try to keep some with us for tips. Children especially get a kick out of them.

Most we have given these to think they are old, but actually did not even come into circulation until 1976. They are fun to use as tips and just as conversation starters.

No. It's not easy to downsize. I hope you find the perfect fit.

Thank you @kaylachan We really don't need so much space these days now that many extra items have been passed along! Life is easier with less to dust.

I am looking for a new place to live as the old place flooded and is moldy. The thought of going through and getting rid of my stuff boggles the mind.

We got rid of so much, but plan to delete more. Just how many sets of dishes, pots & pans and linens do we need~ Better we pass these along or donate than have them taking up space @akalinus

I had some $2 bills. The kids took them to school for lunch money. They would not give change for them because they considered them worth $1. They also said they were illegal and they would call the cops next time.

Years back when Examiner.com still existed I wrote about this happening to a child in Texas. The foolish adults called campus security on a young child. It was a mess. The child was accused of having a counterfeit bill. The school employees did not even notice it was actually a Silver Certificate, which stated on it that the holder could trade it for silver. Maybe they could not read? Today paper money simply states THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE.

I don't care for them, it's just $2. But I have one.
