How MyLot and the incompetence of my favorite Japanese restaurant made me about $15.50 this evening!

$15.50 is a decent month for me on MyLot. I am a plugger and not a big earner.
But tonight, MyLot helped me make some Big Bucks, thanks in part to the incompetence of my favorite Japanese restaurant.
I have had a desire for some sushi for several days. I have called early. I have called late. But I have not called at the right time for either the owner or my friend Maggie to pick up and "hook me up" with my California Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll for about $11.00. Extra wasabi, please.
Tonight, I called at 5:05 PM, right after they opened on this MLK Holiday.
The answering machine said that the message box was full and...I hung up and tried again. Same result.
So I went and got a yummy $10 burrito that will last me for three days and some groceries that will last me for about five days. The net cost was about $20. The groceries included some lox and some cream cheese, which will satisfy my desire for raw fish.
So the incompetence of my favorite Japanese place led me to save $15 or $20 over the next few days.
I am a tad ticked off, as I was really in the mood for sushi, but I'm full and happy.
Do you make a mental note when another's incompetence costs them money?

You can make a burrito last 3 days? I can't even make my burritos last 3 minutes!

I've heard you do this before.
No, I don't think I've done it. Certainly not recently.
I'm not a fish lover, and the one time I tried sushi, the place and the experienced sushi eater both recommended the California roll. One bite and I spit it out... well, not a fish fan.
The wife cooked fish one night and I ate about 3 bites and I was done, way to fishy for me. Both the wife and roommate liked their fish, but nope...
I do have a lot of trouble with Oriental food because of the corn starch they put in so much of it.

I'm glad you were able to save $$; but I know you will break down and order the sushi soon.

Oh yes indeed. I make mental notes of me saving money and business losing money quite often. There's a place near us that has a really good soft shelled taco. They're much too expensive as far as I'm concerned but we enjoy a treat every now and then.
When I looked at everything inside the shell, I told my husband that we can easily make these ourselves. We have done just that. Not only are they much better then the ones at the taco shop, they are sooo much more cost effective.
Oh happy day!!

@TheHorse Though I'm not a fan of lox, your breakfast sounded very good. I can only begin to imagine what it would cost at a restaurant.

@betlynfrnds Yeppers. I bought more "lox" today for five dollars. I may have it for dinner.

That is a happy story! I make a good spaghetti and a good Stroganoff. But I don't think I have the patience to learn to make good Mexican food. I just had French bread, butter, cream cheese, and lox for breakfast. It was delicious and the cost was next to nothing.

@TheHorse - We have stopped eating out on February 2020, the restaurants were closed because of the lockdown and stayed closed for months. Now they are open but with all those restrictions about the Covid Pass and I do not believe it is safe to eat inside with other people.

I wish I had your luck. I'm suing Denver, the entire city, every business and every resident because of Omelet Gate. I didn't want to do it but I had no choice.
The bright side is it's only costing me $7,500 an hour. When it's over, the jury is going to make them give me $100 billion but I wish they were giving me $20 every three days right now.

@TheHorse You're going to have good luck with that. And it's not going to take long, either. That's been my experience, anyway. I sued Japan on Dec. 8, 1941, because I was in Honolulu and the air raid the day before caused my favorite restaurant to close early and I was hungry. And the judge in the case said that he's going to make a ruling any day now.

How does a burrito last for three days? Why were they not picking up the phone at the sushi place?

In a word: No.
But that must be one HU-U-UGE burito to last three days.
