Met The Endocrinologist

So, today was my appointment with the Endocrinologist. Had to drive almost an hour away since that is where the closest one is.
It had snowed over night so didn't know if we would be able to make the trip - but the main roads were fine.
Anyways - about the visit.
The endocrinologist was really nice, kind of funny too. He asked about my history with diabetes....what led to being hospitalized, and so on. He says my case is not a typical one for sure.
He did check a C-Peptide to see if I am making much insulin. When they post the results I will share. What I do know is they stuck me 4 times to try to get one blood test! Here they don't have as much trouble, lol.
The doctor is going to try to help me get a CGM too - even if it is just the kind that you scan whenever you want to check it is fine with me. I am just tired of sticking my fingers with needles every day.
I go back to see him in a month....if I continue to do good he'll go to three months, and then six months. I plan to stick to low carb, except the occasional cheat meal/day.
Yes, I did have a cheat meal today after the appointment...but will be back on low carb/keto tomorrow.

It is a continuous glucose monitor that you wear and you don't have to check sugars by a finger prick all the time. Would be very helpful

I'm glad the appointment went well. Is a CGM the monitor that you stick to your skin?

@MommyOfEli2013 I'm amazed that it can monitor blood sugar through the skin.

Yes, you attach it to your skin and it works for a certain amount of time on each sensor

@LindaOHio It is pretty cool...not sure if it would be comfortable to have it on all the time though

Low C peptide is an indication that our body is not producing enough insulin and we have to depend on external insulin injections. It's generally low with Type 1 and Type 1.5 diabetes patients. I go for fasting insulin and Cpeptide test annually.

@MommyOfEli2013 My C peptide are very low. It's 0.76 as per my December reports. My friend has type 1 and her report shows anything between 0.1 to 0.3.
