Hello every one, hope all of you are doing good.
The first month of the year ended and, climate wise it was a gloomy month for our area. First time in my life, January becomes coldest month of the season. Whole month went without Sun except 2 days in the last week of the January.
The good news is, new virus is under control in this part of the country (according to the news) so government reduced the restrictions for public.
I also heard there is another threat of a new virus….
No idea when we will be able to go out without wearing face mask.
How about the month, climate and virus threat in your area?

Hello. I'm happy to see you here.
The newest Covid is an Omicron sub-variant BA.2 and it spreads 1.5 times faster than the Omicron original variant. It's across half the US now and the vaccines don't seem to work on it.
As far as January here, it's been very cold and gloomy with snow, sleet and icy rain a lot of the time. I've seen very little of the sun here.

Thank you and I hope to be here more often than earlier.
I also heard the new variants can spread in a super fast mode. I am not sure how much dangerous it is. Whatever it is , we have to face all situations.
Now we have sunny days but the wind is making it colder again.

@Sreekala You're welcome.
We're currently at 15C today and getting warmer.
Big businesses here are pressuring the government to declare the virus "endemic" whether it's still killing people or not. They want the money rolling into their bank accounts again.

The new variant BA.2 is supposed to be more contagious than omicron. It seems that many vaccines are not effective against it. Covishield and Covaxin however claim that they are effective. Anyway, the third wave had huge numbers of infection but the situation was okay due to the fact that a good number of people are vaccinated.
Well, going out without mask is still something unimaginable. I am not confident to do it now even when the mandatory mask is removed.

@Sreekala It's way more infectious than omicron and even supposed to be more severe. Vaccines in west have come out saying that they are not effective on this. But our vaccines still claim to be effective against these variants. Only time will let us know.
I wore a mask whenever I stepped out even before the pandemic. I am allergic to dust and pollution. And we have enough here as there is always some constructions going around.

@arunima25 Yes, only time can tell how effective is out vaccine. But the reports from South, says that the virus is not doing much disturbance like the first wave.
Regarding mask, I agree the pollution is too high in cities. Wearing mask can protect us from those unwanted stuffs. Many people told me wearing mask is protecting them not only from this coronoa virus but allergies and pollution too. Those suffered from breathing issues are feeling much after with this mask.
Mask is doing much disturbance to me during the winter season as I am wearing specs. Can't see anything with mask and specs.

The climate is unusual for this place. There may be coldest days but only for one or two days in the season. This time the whole January was alike. Today it is raining too.
Here also virus is decreasing and life is going to normal. But another new variant is on its way too.
