This morning we had a really good breakfast. Lazy man Clay was in a good mood for a change and made breakfast. Eggs, toast, grits, and corn beef hash from the can. Daughter actually made the grits since I don't really like corn beef hash. It tastes like I imagine dog food would since it smells that way. I love grits with anything. When I was little mom would buy hominy in a can and I loved it. Could eat my weight in it. When we visited my aunt here in Florida when I was 12 yrs. I was surprised to learn there was such a thing as hominy grits. So of course I loved them. I ate a good breakfast. Did you?

I had some leftover spaghetti for breakfast this morning. I made it, so of course, it was delicious. Mom made grits once... none of us liked them. It was like chewing on sand.

I guess you are like my sons. All 3 are great cooks. My girls did not learn from me because when they were at home they never wanted to cook. Too busy with boys and fun. I think some days they didn't even eat. because they were gone out when I cooked and the boys had finished off everything and they didn't care to cook. If the one of boys made something because he had been gone during meal time, the girls would talk them into fixing them some too.

@DaddyEvil That's cute My daughter here does the same. Cooks too much because for years she was cooking for her 3 kids and first husband and whatever kids were staying at her house, because she was known for taking in any body that had no place to go, plus her kids were always having friends over night it seemed. I can eat most any left overs for a couple days except that chicken and yellow rice thing she makes.

@bunnybon7 Pretty always pulled a chair up to the pass-through window above the stove and watched me cooking while we talked. She never actually bothered to cook at home until she came back from college, though. Now, we take turns cooking our meals. I had to figure out how to cook when I was 13. There were only mom, my youngest brother and I left at home by then. Mom could only cook for a huge bunch of people, so if we didn't want to eat the same meal for a week, someone else had to do the cooking. *shrug*

I can eat that kind of breakfast any time of the day. A lot of times I eat it for supper, with a lot of bacon. I'm like you, I can eat grits with about anything.

@sweetashoney oh? It does already have some potatoes in it. The canned that you just warm up is what he makes.

@bunnybon7 I like it every once in a while, I cut up a potato in small cubed peases and cook it in it. It tastes a lot better that way.

Funny you mentioned grits. I just watched My Cousin Vinny and the process of cooking grits helped him win his first case as a lawyer

I don't know why I don't like corned beef hash. I love corned beef and potatoes. But some how this canned stuff just tastes wrong to me. I sometimes eat it anyway if it's all there is.
