In the rush of another new month, I forgot it's Groundhog Day and those pesky critters have predicted another six weeks of winter, Saw their shadow, Speaking of the weather I was wondering why I have not seen our own weatherman around in a while @DocAndersen

Groundhogs most certainly didn't see their shadows here. We've had sleet and fine snow all day.
I hope Florida has six more weeks of winter and the rest of the US gets warm pretty quickly. (It won't happen, but it's still funny!)

@RasmaSandra *sigh* Fine, then ... I guess the rest of us are supposed to have six more weeks of winter just to keep you happy.
I do hope you feel better quickly... And when you do feel better, you can come help me shovel the over a foot of snow that's fallen with more coming down.
Out my front door. Photo is mine from this morning.

@DaddyEvil, believe me, I am a good person and can be helpful and it I lived near you I certainly would offer a helping hand, Hey, I don't know if this will work for you but my husband back in Latvia, when there was a lot of snow, took a big outdoor broom and pushed through the snow and left clear paths for us to walk in the garden and did not shovel it all

I don't put much merit on what the groundhog says but it is a bit sad to hear 6 more weeks of winter. This has really been a horribly cold winter here since January arrived. Florida has been getting it's share of cold weather too from what I see on the news.
Now that you mention it I haven't seen DocAndersen either.

That is just a simple thing they pull the poor groundhogs out of their homes and set them down and then look to see if they throw a shadow @sol_cee in the photo it looks like the poor animal is not amused at having his life disturbed again

Also, @JudyEv look at my previous replies about Doc, I don't think they make good pets where would they make their burrows?

They even mentioned groundhog day on the radio here in Australia this morning.
A groundhog is a type of squirrel, and it made me ask myself if there are any squirrels in Australia,
They are not natural to Australia, but like a lot of other animals, the rabbit, the fox, the deer, camels, goats, etc., they were introduced here, a long time ago too.
We have some in Perth, in Western Australia, and some in Kew, in Victoria, apparently.
"Squirrels, family Sciuridae, are represented in Australia by two introduced species, the American Grey Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) Gmelin 1788, and the Northern Palm Squirrel (Funambulus pennantii) Wroughton 1905."
