Just got an email from Amazon that my account has been blocked or suspended due to information in my account not matching my debit card. When I clicked the link the site looked official like it was from Amazon. They needed to verify certain information which included date of birth and social security number. Now amazon wouldn't ask for that would they?! So I went to amazon.com and just ordered a safeway gift card and paid for it with my amazon balance of 34.00. the order went through. Now let's see if it's delivered to my email. Will give an update.

That was most likely a phishing expedition. Don't give them anything, contact Amazon directly--

When you get an email you think is fake, forward it to the company it claims to be at their spoofing address, stop-spoofing@amazon.com.
If you receive a suspicious email from PayPal, you forward the email to spoof@paypal.com.
Every online company provides an email address to send suspicious emails claiming to be from their company. Simply forward the email to their address and the company will take steps after that.

@db20747 If an email asks for any information, it's fake. Just forward the entire email to the spoof address for the correct company. They'll want to analyze the whole thing so they can prosecute the one who sent it.
