Last night I really didn't fill like cooking, so I just opened a can of Van Camp's pork and beans and cut up some hot dogs to make some beanie weenie's. I hadn't had this is a long time.
I can still remember way back when my children were young and that's what we had a lot of during the summer time one year. During this time I was watching about 10 kids while their parents were working, since I was on temperary layoff from my job.
This was back when homes had VCR's and you could rent a movie for a doller. Most of the time I would fix the kids ether beanie weenie's or grilled cheese sandwishes for lunch. After lunch I would let ether all the boys or all the girls get in the pool, while the others watched a movie. When the movie was over, they would switch places. All of them looked forward to this everyday.

Oh it was, it's a shame in some ways, we so many channels to choose from, the internet and all the other service networks, it has taken away from that experience. I think that's why they looked forward to it, all them movies didn't come on tv like they do now and we didn't have internet back then

Van Camp's is about like Hunt's pork and beans. The brand here that I really don't care that much for Showboat pork and beans, I will use it though, if I'm making baked beans since I'm adding a lot of ingredients to it.

Sounds like fun, I might make hot dogs and beans more often, but it seems like I either have beans and no hotdogs or vice versa.

Yea, I just happen to have some hot dogs, but I didn't have any buns, that's why I thought of beanie weenie's.

I guess that's one way to keep most rivalry to a minimum... I still like beanie weenies but I add more ingredients to mine than that. (And I hate hotdogs. I always used cooked bratwurst in mine. YUM!)

Oh yea, they loved watching the movies and playing in the pool, I kept switching it off each day. I woiuld let the girls go first to the pool one day and then the boys the next.. I need to look up some recipes for what others put in theirs and try it.

@sweetashoney When I was 18, I worked at KFC and made the salads for the store. I copied all their recipes and still use them.
