Love for the beach! / myLot

I live in the mainland with no access to any large water bodies. But my mother belonged from a coastal town. So as a kid, I would visit grandad during holidays. Ah! The smell of salt in the air and the warm humid atmosphere whenever we went to the beach. And the red, black, orange and blue mix of colors of the sky during sunset. The image is still vivid in my mind. I haven't been back there for almost 10 years and yet whenever I remember the sea, I can feel the salty air in my nostrils. Image credits: Unsplash

I've been to the Pacific Ocean twice in my life and thought it smelled... salty with a decaying smell to it. But, other than the non-salty air, the nearby lake also smells like decaying things to me, too. (I live almost exactly in the middle of the continental United States, so it was a two day drive to reach the Pacific Ocean. I took my seven year old daughter with me once and went by myself once. Both trips were years ago. My daughter is 33 now.)

I know what you mean... I think that's the smell of fish plus algae...or moss, not sure..

I wish you can go back there soon? Oh I know well how you feel. I am in love with the sea!! I also lived sea side for a good few years and now live inland and feel trapped.
