Watching A Busy Bird Feeder

Birds are flocking to my deck feeder again. They enjoy the sunflower seeds and peanuts. Cardinals visit early and late, before and after the crowd.
Blue Jays (in the photo) are usually the second to arrive. Grackles and other birds follow the lead. Lately I fill the feeder up twice a day. As spring approaches I will cut it back and then take the feeder away.
They will have plenty to eat when spring arrives. Robins are all over the yard too. They don't eat from a feeder. In the winter they look mainly for berries.
Photo is mine. Do you enjoy watching the birds? What type are in your area?

I can watch birds 24/7---miss the birds I used to have and the wild parrots aren't 'visiting' any more!

I have doves, cardinals, and finches primarily at the diner in the back yard. And, of course, my squirrelly squirrels!

@CarolDM — I have a collection of “relatives” (squirrels). I can go outside and do a poor impersonation of their bark, and next thing I know here they come….one on the garage roof (Roofie the Roof Rat) and 4-5 others on the ground, wanting peanuts. They all look like they haven’t eaten in minutes. (Mom said I had fat squirrels, and I disputed that until I saw a skinny one. )

@FourWalls I remember every time I visited my Dad he and I would watch the birds and the squirrels. He fought trying to keep them out of the bird food. Finally he gave up and they had their own feeder.

Our birds won't return for a while yet. But, yes we get cardinals all year long. Thay bluejay is sure enjoying himself! During the summer, mostly wild turkeys, chickadees, robins, sparrows, pine siskins, wrens, crows and seagulls.

@CarolDM We do get hummingbirds, but I don't have any trees out front to hang a feeder.

So pretty this bird is. They're enjoying the feeder & so nice to see. We've from time to time waxbills & saffron finches, manikin & house finches. Usually, mynahs, sparrows, zebra doves & spotted doves. Pigeons in town or towards the east side of Oahu. West, by watercress farms egrets & black stilts birds. These are the birds I've seen locally.

Guess they like tropical weather. We've got seasonal birds golden plover. This is a male golden plover in my neighborhood store Marukai, parking lot. They usually make April -August, their appearance locally.

Ravens or crows, I'm not sure which. I know one is larger than the other. It's the smaller of the two. I see sparrows too. Not many birds yet. I expect to see them start to return next month. The robin is our first sign of spring. I really hate seeing it because I don't want winter to leave.

I always love seeing the birds. We get Blue Jays, Cardinals, Grackles, Sparrows...pretty much the same as you do.

I've noticed the same thing with my Cardinals too. They are always the last at the feeder as dark approaches. Finicky eaters, I guess. Do not want to socialize with the other birds. Blue Jays storm in yelling like kamikaze pilots scaring all the other birds away! They love those peanuts...

Wow! So happy to see this discussion. Cute looking bird!
Perhaps you would be able to capture Robins as well.
Here Pigeons are maintaining their hegemony as usual with some Mynas coming in here and there.
Sparrows and Parrots are just occasionally sighted.
Have a nice Sunday.
