How many of you have been bit by a bee? I know that we need bees but I am not a fan at all. I have been stung by one and accidentally sat on one and that one stung me too. How many of like bees? I know we need them for the honey but I really have a very bad feeling about them. Are there others that feel bad about them too and are afraid of them too and want them as far away from you as you can? I just thought of something and wondered if bees can smell the fear on someone that is afraid of them? Does anyone know the answer to that?

NO, bees sting, they jab a barbed stinger into the skin and then they die.

@snowy22315 I meant to say I was stung twice and not bitten. Sorry about that and thank you for pointing that out to me.

I like to use honey but don't like the sting from a bee. I was once told when a bee stings you it is good luck You might be getting a large sum of money. Dont know the truth to this. I was stung on my arm by bee once during childhood and the area was swollen for a few days.

@askme123 That is an interesting thought but do not remember getting a large sum of money after I got stung. That must have been very frightening being stung by the bee when you were a child.

I have never been stung by a bee. Bees are not aggressive, wasps are aggressive. If you pay attention not to hurt the bees, they do not sting. I always work in the garden with bees flying around me and I never had an accident.

@LadyDuck One sitting on one did not help that it got angry. Thank you for telling me the difference. I must have done something that the first one did not like why it stung me. I am glad you have never been stung by one.

@SophiaMorros Wow, you have had bad luck with bees. I know we need them for the honey and we certainly need honey here in Israel for our Jewish New Year so we can have a sweet year and eat honey cake and put honey on our bread. I cannot remember the first time I was stung but do remember sitting down on a chair the 2nd time and a bee happened to be there and I did not see it till it got what it wanted from me.

@Hannihar bees make honey and a black and yellow with fuzzy bodies. The only time I have been stung by a bee is walking barefoot and accidentally stepping on one that was visiting a clover flower. Bees only sting when provoked, and can only sting once. Using their stinger kills them. Yellow jackets are a kind of wasp, they are black and yellow like the honey bee, but not fuzzy. They can sting multiple times. They like to buzz around food, and often nest in the ground. I have been stung multiple times when I accidentally disturbed a nest they had built in our firewood pile, I have been stung when I have run over an under-ground nest with a lawn mower. I don't like yellow jackets!

Haha lol. Your post really made me remember of an incident in grandma's childhood. She was also stung by a bee and she didn't understood what it was doing. So she thought it's best to let the bee stay on her arm. And the month, she had a delirious fever. Since then she hates bees and always chases them whenever she sees them. Of course she eats honey.

@Anqaya That must have been hard for your grandma. I am sorry. I understand hating them too and I also eat honey. I wish I could feel respect for them but I just do not want them anywhere near me. The memories of being stung by them always come back to me when they are around.

@Hannihar oh no! I am sorry you've been stung twice! I've never been stung by one before but I am scared of them as I do fear being stung. I don't know if they know when we are scared of them. Good question though! I do not like spiders at all. I think they are cool and I know they have a purpose but I don't want them near me. And most recently I have began being real frightened of sharks. I had always thought they were eerie but a few months ago I was watching YouTube videos about them and now I'm completely terrified of even the thought of them.

@Hannihar There are many different types of spiders here. But I can't say I have personally seen a huge variety of them. The most common one I ever see is the Daddy Long Legs spiders. I just think all animals and bugs are cool because they are part of nature. And they all have amazing qualities on how they survive and get around. Even though some are scary to be around or look at, still amazing what they are.

@VivaLaDani13 I also have no idea if they know if they scare us or not. I sat on one once by accident. I wanted to sit on the chair and sat down and found out that a bee was in the chair so he stung me because I sat on him. Also once he stung me. I do not like spiders or snakes. Why do you think they are cool? You are right that they have a purpose. Do you have many spiders where you are?

For the most part, if you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. I've only been stung once - at the back of my neck - and that was in my adult life. I had no idea that a bee was on me (this was at the zoo). I think I tried to swipe a crawling sensation on my neck and then it happened.

Growing up I was terrified by bees because as a small child a bee got in one of my ears and bit me there, My grandma got it out and boy did it hurt, Then when I lived in Latvia I realized bees could also be good if you are good for them and saved one from a puddle of water and it sat on my fingers and did not bite me because I was helping it,
