Yesterday while I was coloring my daughters hair with the hair dye she wanted. She started talking about Jo Jo Seewah and said she has a boyfriend. I was surprised and had said “oh I thought she liked girls not boys. That’s okay she can like both!” My daughter said she has a girlfriend! Are you even allowed to do that. I laughed a little then responded “yes, your allowed to like girls too. Remember how I said you can’t help who you like or love.” She said yes. “Well anyone can like anyone. So it’s okay to like girls, or boys, or both, and even some people don’t like anyone. That is all alright. Right now at a 11 I don’t think you really like anyone that way of love. You might like someone wants to be friends or more then friends but your still pretty young. Having relationships kind of help you figure out what you like or don’t like.” My daughters reaction was “Oh, okay. That’s cool.”

You can color children's hair from this age? Do you use a natural ingredient based hair dye, or are there specific products for children or something? I was always under the impression the chemicals in traditional hair dyes were damaging for the hair (based on my mother's experience with them) hence I never used them for myself. I don't know who Jo Jo Seewah is, but I'm more of a conservative, old school mind, despite that I'm an atheist. As offensive as this may sound to some, this is not a concept I would want my children to be exposed to, and certainly not at this age. Hell, I don't even want them to learn about the boyfriend-girlfriend concept until they're at least 18 lol. But that's just me and my preferred way of parenting.
