Violet Jessop lived from October 2, 1887, to May 05, 1971 (83 years) She was the eldest daughter of Irish immigrants. When she was young she had a short bout with tuberculosis and the doctors didn't have much hope that she would survive the fatal disease but she did. As an adult, she worked as a stewardess and nurse. In 1911 she was aboard the luxury ship RMS Olympic on September 20, 1911, when it collided with the British warship, HMS Hawke. There were no fatalities and they made it back to port without sinking. She was then transferred to the Olympic's sister ship the Titanic in 1912. On April 14, 1912, she was ordered on deck to serve as an example of how to act for the non-English speaking passengers. She was then ordered into lifeboat 16 and they were rescued the next day. Then she served as a stewardess for the British Red Cross on the HMHS Brittanic(the younger sister ship) during World War I. On November 21, 1916, the ship struck a deep-sea mine and sunk within 55 minutes. The ship had 1,066 people on board and of that 30 died. Jessop was not one of those. She had lived through all three sister ship's catastrophes. She was quite a survivor.

She probably did. She was a nurse and so had that helpful thought pattern I think.
