I Can See Clearly

I’ve tried to myLot off and on since my cataract surgery last Thursday, however, it wasn’t easy. My right eye was blurry for a couple of days and any light was too bright.
The laser surgery went well. The staff was so friendly and caring, and my doctor so kind.
But the best person of all was my husband. He drove me wherever I needed to be, cooked, bought me my favorite nibbles, picked up prescriptions, and catered to my every need.
My family took time out of their busy lives to visit. And a big thank you to my myLot friends for your concern and messages.
Today I’m going to my second eye appointment alone, although hubs wants to drive me. I can do it as long as I wear dark sunglasses
I’m mentally ready for surgery on my other eye on Thursday now that I know what to expect. Not looking forward to 5 weeks of two different eye drops in each eye 3 and/or 4 times a day
Now I can see the beautiful new figure skating costume that our Ice Princess has in detail and vivid color!

I am sure you are more relaxed with this second surgery, you know what to expect.
Eye drops are a pain, I have to put eye drops in my eyes every day 3 times a day, I try never to forget.
This blue costumes that the Ice Princess is wearing is beautiful.

Yes, I am a lot more relaxed now. I was a nervous wreck last week.
I don't want to be nosy, but will be anyway Why do you need eye drops? You don't have to answer.
Thank you! My daughter-in-law bought the professional photos and sent them to me. I couldn't look until Sunday

@DianneN - I need the eye drops because I suffer of glaucoma, I need to keep the eye pressure down. I had laser surgery a few years ago, it helped, but the drops are still needed.
I remember that Mom had blurred vision for a few days after cataract surgery.

@LadyDuck Thanks for letting me know. I hope your eyes remain in good shape
They told me my eyesight would be blurry, but it's also scary not being able to see. I kept one eye closed when I stopped by to myLot. That gave me a wicked headache

I didn't read about your cataract surgery last Thursday, I apologize Dianne:( I'm dealing with cataracts also, not something to take lightly! They've never mentioned surgery yet, but it's probably in my future. And hubs is right at your side, looking for everything he can do to provide your needs He's good to you, a husband's place well filled!

@DianneN I have been seeing bright flashing lights, around the white computer screen. Not every day, but if I spend too much time online, it happens. The ophthalmologist hasn't mentioned surgery.

Well done. I had both mine done a few years ago. It was amazing to watch the surgeon performing the surgery. The difference it makes to colours is quite remarkable. I can see without glasses but the glasses fine tune for absolute clarity. Thankfully it is not a painful procedure.
You do not realise much how you were not able to see clearly as the development is so insidious but the results are instant. Good luck with your second op at least you know what to expect now. You will be so pleased to have had it done it really does open up another world for you.

@DianneN This time next week it will be a distant memory. One of my colleagues told me to watch it on youtube which l did so l knew exactly what he was doing each step of the way. I know most people are quite squirmish when it comes to do anything with eyes but l found it fascinating. My wife wore sunglasses for a week after hers. Both times l had it done on a Thursday & was back at work on Monday.
I highly recommend it to anyone who is afraid. Now you can reassure people too. I will be thinking of you on Thursday.

@garymarsh6 I did watch it and read up on it. It’s always scary when it comes to your own eyes, but I’m pleased and looking forward to……….when it’s overwith

You are right! It was amazing to actually see the surgery. I had laser and watched everything break up as it was performed.
I had difficulty with a blurry eye and a huge sensitivity to light afterwards, but getting better every day.
Thanks so much!!!!!

I’d probably still let hubby drive you to rest your eyes more but I bet your sick of having to be so dependent. I never had any doubt your husband would take the best care of his wonderful wife! So with cataracts you can’t see colors correctly? Her outfit is very pretty!

My eye was in pretty good shape by then, at least good enough not to smash into cars
With cataracts, I began seeing things in a fog or cloud and in yellow. Disgusting! I knew it was time then to have them removed.
Thank you. I love to see her costumes every year. Always a surprise to me.

@DianneN - I had cataract surgery a few years ago, so I understand what you are going through. You will be thrilled with the results, though!
I'm sure your ice princess enjoyed watching the winter Olympics! Some of the ice skaters were simply amazing. I couldn't help but wonder how they can learn to do some of those aerial moves, when the men toss the women and she spins in the air. Amazing!
Your granddaughter's costume is gorgeous!

@DianneN - Oddly enough, in my case, too, my cataract surgery went better in my right eye than in my left eye. Even though I had the surgery over a decade ago, my vision hasn't changed much after the first month. My distance vision is perfect, but I need to wear reading glasses, especially for fine print or in places with low light (like restaurants). However, I love having good distance vision. That has been wonderful!
You should be so proud of your Ice Princess. I hope to hear someday that she is competing in the Olympics. You never know!

@DeborahDiane My opthamologist mentioned that 75% of people have more difficulty with the left eye than the right eye. My surgery was for distance - no more glasses! However, he made some adjustments in my left eye so that I can read without glasses in bright light, too, just like you!
I spoke with the Ice Princess about the Olympics. She has no desire to compete in them anymore. She would have to give up summer camp for the summer and practice all day, every day. She still loves skating and will continue to see where it leads, but wants a somewhat more normal life. She's been doing online schooling for two years, practicing, off ice exercises, and getting coached at a college with a rink. She's hoping to get into a special high school in Manhattan or high school in New Jersey just to be a normal kid. She will still skate, only because it's her life as she says.

I'm thrilled with the results in my right eye, lol, but the left eye is the one causing problems. However, getting a bit better every day.
The ice dancing and figure skating were fabulous. Our Ice Princess began her season in Lake Placid and did sooooo well. She also was asked to skate in a performance in Rockefeller Center. Our son sent us the link to watch it live. So proud.
Many thanks!!!!!

@solidcodes My insurance covered everything except the laser. That cost $3000.00 for both eyes and well worth every penny. I didn't feel a thing. The worst parts were being blurry for two or so days and sensitive to light.
