Day 255 Jeremiah 11:11 Therefore, thus says the LORD: “Behold, I will bring calamity on them which they cannot escape; and though they cry out to Me, I will not listen to them. 12 “Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they offer incense, but they will not save them at all in the time of their trouble. 13 “For according to the number of your cities were your gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem you set up altars to that shameful thing, altars to burn incense to Baal. 14 “So do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time they cry out to Me because of their trouble. 15 “What has My beloved to do in My house, having done lewd deeds with many? The holy flesh has passed from you. When you do evil, then you rejoice. 16 The LORD called your name, Green Olive Tree, Lovely and of Good Fruit. With the noise of a great tumult, He has kindled fire on it, and its branches are broken. 17 “For the LORD of hosts, who planted you, has pronounced doom against you for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they did against themselves to provoke Me to anger in offering incense to Baal.” Many people wonder why God doesn’t hear their prayers. They don’t consider their actions block their prayers. God told Jeremiah not to pray for Judah or Jerusalem because they burned incense to Baal. They offered their children on altars to Baal. They did every form of lewd deeds for their gods. Many people, who call themselves Christians, don’t receive answers to their prayers. They believe God is far away and doesn’t care about them, especially when they see God answering others’ prayers. If you call yourself a Christian, and delight yourself in shameful activities, God will not hear your prayers. For God to hear you, you need to repent and turn from your wicked ways. Then God will hear you. 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (NKJV) The process is simple, confess your sin, turn from it, and God will hear you. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV) Stop telling yourself God doesn’t care about you. He does. You care more about your sin than you do about God. Get rid of the sin in your life, confess it, and God will hear you, heal you, and forgive you. Let’s pray: Father, sin is a fact of my life. I cannot escape it. Help me see the sin that destroys my relationship with you, confess it, and see You work in my life again. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
