Anna Karen dies in house fire at age 85.

I'm not sure how many MyLotters would know of Anna Karen. I don't see many Discussions here to do with British shows especially older British shows. (unless there has been many and I keep missing them) but I wanted to do a Discussion on this British actress. My dad and I were sad to learn she had passed but more in shock of how it happened. We are still unclear on the actual details. As far as we know she died in a London house fire. But whether or not it was the smoke that consumed her or the fire....we don't know. Ever since I was little, I had come to know of movies, TV shows, songs, etc that was way before my time. "On The Buses" was one of them. It was a British TV sitcom that ran from 1969 - 1973 with 3 movie length versions of the show. Anna Karen played Olive Rudge on the show who was made to look like a not so attractive girl. I always liked her but felt sorry for that character (if you know the show, you'd understand why). She was also in EastEnders on a recurring basis from 1996 to 2017. I've never seen that show before though. There has been some shocking celebrity deaths lately. Betty White I understood for her age. Sidney Poitier was elderly too. Bob Saget was quite shocking. I wasn't a full blown fan but loved Full House. Louie Anderson. Meatloaf really got me and now poor Anna Karen really got me sad. Such a horrific way.... Does anyone know of Anna Karen or at least the show "On The Buses" ? ****photo is mine of the "On The Buses" DVD's we own****

@2ndchances24 All good. I was born in the 90's but grew up with a lot of things not from "my time." Anna's passing was just devasting and with how it happened.

@2ndchances24 So sorry but not sure how that related to the conversation?? Also, I don't know if you being older or me being younger defines a greater knowledge of who to stay away from. So little bit lost there too I'm afraid. I know you had it rough from a young age but I haven't exactly had the greatest time either with people from a young age up til now. I've also had some bad people or questionable people who weren't good for my mind, heart, soul, mental health etc. I don't really see how age comes into it sorry. Whether you are 10 or 100, if you've suffered people hurting you, your feelings and story are still just as valid as someone else younger or older than you. But again, not really sure how we go to this subject I'm sorry to say. We were talking about celebrities....

@VivaLaDani13 I'm a lot older than you are & grew up in the times of learning how to stay away from people that wanted nothing to do with me but bring me down.

I saw her in a “Carry On” movie. I didn’t know if the music obituary list last month would ever end. It has been a rough year thus far, hasn’t it.

@FourWalls Oh yes I remember her in a Carry On movie. I'm trying to remember which one it was. I remember a scene where she was in a girl's school or something and a brawl broke out. Can't remember if she was part of the fight. It sure has. I am expecting every day now to hear about someone else passing. I know every minute around the world people pass. But it's incredible how many famous people are dropping like flies so early in this year.

I know of the show On The Buses but never watched it. What a horrible way to die. That is really sad.

@JudyEv No worries at all Judy. I feel there was more of a chance of British people and Aussies knowing what it was. But yeah, very sad and like you said, a horrible way to go.
