My painting

This is the rose painting that I did.
I drew the outline first, then started on the petals. I used acrylic paint.
First I put down a layer of undiluted scarlet paint at the bottom of a petal, then I wet the brush and spread the paint upwards so that it thinned out at the top of the petal. I did this on all but the bottom petals.
I then used deep red and did the same thing to create shadows on the lower petals. Then I used undiluted scarlet mixed with blue to create a purple shade for the bottom petals, then deep red mixed with blue for darker purple shadows on the bottom petals.
The stems were done with sap green mixed with yellow for the lighter areas and sap green mixed with blue for the darker areas.
The background was blue mixed with varying degrees of white to make the different shades of blue growing darker at the bottom. (The picture doesn't show the contrast very well). Then I painted the edges blue too to make it look uniform and neat.
I hope you like it.
Have a nice day.

@sharonelton She mostly painted "cutesy" things. I thought she was good. Ever heard of Sue Schewe? She did a lot of stuff like that. She also painted scenes with old barns.

@sharonelton Yes. Many times. I'm terrible! Looks like a 5-year old painted/drew something.

@LindaOHio That's what some of my trees look like!
But then again when you look at some of the old masters, some of them look like a child painted them!

@sharonelton I like your explanation of how you mixed all the various colours. I wouldn't have known how to do that.

Thank you very much. Why don't you try? You never know what you can do til you try. Check out Frank Clarke. He says he can teach anyone to paint!
