I Got a Job!

Finally! I can cease panicking for the time being. I got a job as a dog trainer and pet sitter. Two applications and two interviews later I'm in the process of going through all their protocols and such, I need to watch some videos and take some quizzes, but after that they'll start assigning me clients asap. Excite! The best part is while I'm representing a company, I'm mostly working for myself. No micromanaging supervisors breathing down my neck, and I can take or turn down clients as I please so it's sort of on my own schedule unless I get assigned to teach classes. Those will be once a week things, so easy on my schedule too. That means I can still make time to write! Things are looking up!

@Babino Definitely! I have to be discreet with who my clients are but I can share some of the ups and downs of dog training for sure!

Thank youuuu! More importantly, it still leaves me actual time to write instead of having to scramble around some 9-5 deal. I can manage my own schedule, pay my bills, and still keep going in my writing career!

@Vikingswest1 Oh, nah. They've been with me while I've had foster dogs and while I was working in doggie daycare/boarding. They're used to me having other dog smell on me.

That’s so nice! Do you have any background in training dogs or pet sitting?

Oh gosh, yes. I spent half my career with dogs. I got out of the business to try out some other things, but ultimately here I am going back into it. My resume got a nice boost in other skills, but I was always happy in the dog world.

@akruser13 then it’s a good fit. And no supervisors breathing down your neck. That would be perfect

Me too! I've spent the last several days watching training videos and taking quizzes and looking at all their email templates and course material. It's a lot to take in so hopefully it all pans out!

Oh definitely. I was a trainer several years ago so I know what I'm in for. Except back then I was in a small town in the NW and now I'm in Los Angeles so I'm betting the clients will be a bit more interesting, lol.
