Recipe-Diet soda cupcakes

I got this recipe from a friend. I haven't tried it yet. I'm not really sure it will taste good. She says it does. I'm afraid to try it.lol. Has anyone else ever heard of this......
Diet soda cupcakes
box of cake mix
1 can of diet soda
bake as directed on box for cupcakes. No kidding, this is really good and no fat and less calories!!No eggs, no oil, just the mix and the pop!
I used diet coke and chocolate but I'll bet diet sprite and vanilla would be good too.
you can substitute pumpkin for fat/eggs as well.

I have never heard of such a recipe? Did you ever get to try it? I am always on the look out for low fat, diet type recipes, especially cakes.
Wouldn't the cup cake mix be high in fat?
I want to try this.

I still haven't tried it. I forgot all about it until someone brought this discussion back up a week ago. I was hoping the poster above you would try it and let us know how they taste.lol. I was told by someone on my community forum that they taste really good. I'm not sure about the cake mix being high in fat but it probably is.

I remember my Mom doing this many years ago....I am going to guess it was in the 70's, but she just did it in a regular cake pan.
One of the easier things that I can manage to bake
1 box of Angel food cake mix
a large can of crushed pineapple.
Open the can and dump it in. Mix it. Put in pan, bake at temp on box until it is a golden brown.

I love to bake cakes and cupcakes, and I've never heard of this. Sounds so interesting I might try it today...I love Pepsi so I'll have to decide which cake mix would taste good mixed with it. So many variations to try, diet rootbeer, pineaple soda, and pineaple cupcakes, mmmm. Unfortunately my cakes will be the pound putting on kind cause I am not a fan of diet soda at all...not even if I'm on a diet. I would almost think, without eggs and oil the cake may not rise...I will try and let you know...let me know if you try and how it turns out....Happy baking!!

I have never tried it but it looks very instsetring. I'm up to try anything at least once so I will be making this.
Probably this weekend and I will let you know what I think of them.
