How many masks have you seen on the ground today ?

February 27, 2022 4:01pm CST
I lost count- i took a detour from my usual walk where I pick up every scrap of litter and found a field covered in plastic bottles/masks /paper and tin cans .The masks and paper I could imagine may have blown on the wind but where did all the tin cans and plastic bottles come from. You hardly ever see a person

Most of us here use washable cloth masks. But I have seen few used surgical masks on the ground. That's upsetting how people could be so irresponsible.

A funny thing I noticed about the most deadly and dangerous virus in the last century. Where are all the hazmat disposal recepticles to contain the contaminated biological waste from PPE worn by hundreds of millions of people every day?

@58lordstreet Switzerland is a very clean place and people behave, no one throws stuff on the ground.

switzerland must be a very clean place. We have street cleaners that are made to do it if they are unemployed but they dont go out of their way to pick up anything not exactly on the street

@LadyDuck I got that impression ;-) uk used to be fairly clean but they started charging for taking stuff to the dump so people started dumping it everywhere.Singapore is the cleanest place but chewing gum is banned on the street and they have harsh penalty for litter

That’s sad when people don’t dispose of their used face masks properly

People have always been litter bugs. If it's light enough it can be carried on the wind. Tin is a thin metel, which can be blown about easily. Same for plastics, too.
