Comparing gloves

As some of you know, I ordered "arthritis gloves" through my new insurance carrier. These are a heavy knit, with quite a bit of compression. I have tried to sleep in them and type in them some to ease the pain in my hands. Several years ago I had bought "copper infused" arthritis gloves from some of those "as seen on TV" shelves at Wal Mart. They are a soft black cotton knit with dabs of copper paint on them at the joints. They are warmer than the new ones, and softer, more like socks. I tried sleeping in them. I think I would have to wear which ever glove or brace I choose for a lot of hours a day. I tend not to because it is awkward to wash my hands, I have to take them off a lot. When I wear them to sleep I always end up removing them without ever being aware. Neither of them reduce my shoulder and wrist pain. The actual brace does a better job. The copper gloves cost more, but seem much more flimsy. The brace has the most compression. I will continue trying them when at home because it may be that they need to be used consistently and long term. So much for my review.

I think that those can help only if you wear them most of the time.

@GardenGerty It's like some medications, as you stop taking them you are back to your problems.

How about putting oven mitts over the gloves when you sleep?

MIght keep the hands warm. I also might find them all in the bedding in the morning.

I believe most of my problem is from arthritis in my back. So gloves etc. really will not work.

Very inconvenient when one has to wash her hands a lot.

As you say, maybe you need to wear them more consistently. I'm sure it's highly inconvenient to have to take them off all the time you want to wash your hands or whatever.
