USCG rescues a pilot who made an emergency landing in the Savannah River / myLot

A pilot of a Piper Cherokee airplane that had engine trouble managed to land his small airplane in the Savannah River on Saturday afternoon. The good news part of this story is that after members of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) in the region received the emergency call from the pilot of the small airplane that crash landed in the river was that the members of the Chatham County Marine Patrol had two units in the river who were sent to rescue the pilot who was inside of the small plane when it landed in the river. The second part of the good news is that the local Coast Guard unit had a crew training aboard a helicopter who then went to the area where the small plane landed in the river. The time that it took to rescue the pilot who was in the river was around ten minutes. The pilot was taken by a USCG helicopter to the local airport where he was found to have no serious injuries from the crash landing. The name of the pilot was not released to the public was very grateful for the team members of the USCG and the Chatham County Marine Patrol for assisting in his time of need,

Oof, he was lucky there was a river there and that he was experienced enough to guide his plane down into it. Did it give more info on the engine trouble? I wonder if it was a faulty part or just failure to upkeep maintenance. He'll probably never know since the plane presumably sank.

The story is that the engine failed but other that not much on what caused the airplane to land in the river.
