Tyranny and Freedom

It is a battle from time immemorial.
A few out to subjugate the vast majority. They organize to hunt the latter down who scatter and run for their lives leaving their homes and dreams behind just to survive.
The stealth and opaqueness win the battle against freedom, democracy, and fairness.
Now the threat of the use of weapons of mass extinction comes in handy to terrorize.
The broad framework of democracy and freedom comes to naught at least in the short term.
Then people are more to save their own skins than put up a resolute fight.
The old world order to stop wars and excesses seems no match as decency and fairness refuse to cut any ice with raw power and savagery.
Maybe, no one saw this coming as the free world grapples to make sense of the reality.
As has happened, there are always the sacrificial lambs who perish before a semblance of order is restored at least for a while.
It looks like we have a long way to go to live peacefully, to live and let live. In the meantime, we are slaves to ideology and tyranny. The world order we had taken for granted seems to be on thin ice.

I think living peacefully is what we should all strive for.

I love the doves in the photo Shiva
The war machine marches on, whether or not the people like it.

"Anyone who has ever looked into the glazed eyes of a soldier dying on the battlefield will think hard before starting a war."
Otto von Bismarck, a German Statesman, (1815 to 1898) said this.
"The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war."
Douglas MacArthur, a former American Military leader, (1880 to 1964) said this.
"I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity."
Dwight D. Eisenhower, a former American President, (1890 to 1969) said this.
The ones at the top can speak the words then, but they seldom do anything more to stop wars. They speak afterwards, not before.
We all know the terrible truths and destruction of war, but still, the bullies of the world run amuck.
I do not think that anyone has the solution, even God himself, as everyone, including God, has been trying to stop the evilness of certain members of mankind, since time immemorial.
We have to be more proactive, and close the gates more often, before the horse has bolted, as once it is out of its paddock, running wild, with a bad jockey, on its back, all manner of damage will surely follow.

@Shiva49 Thanks, siva.
Some peace treaties do seem to leave the losing one, like Japan before, in a much weakened position than they were before the war.
The one writing the peace treaty, is usually the winning side, and so it can never be a true peace treaty.
A meeting ground of equals, on a level playing field; we can only dream of that.
Most nations still want things on their own terms, with their own types of borders still firmly in place, and on familiar grounds for themselves too.
They want to win more from the negotiations than which they give away to the other parties in that negotiation.
They will have their own plan A, which they will never differ from very much at all.
They will have a plan B too, in reserve, to placate the other parties.
Plan B, though, will always just be plan A, revised a bit, with an element of resentment added to it too.

@innertalks If the treaties are to be fair, they should be a win all for everyone.
No rubbing it in at every turn to add insult to injury.
But then history is written by victors with their misdeeds and stroking the flames of war underplayed with only one villain in the end, the losers.
Sad to say some superpowers are bullies, mischief-makers, looking to make a kill through selling arms to all, and sundry. For that, they stoop to any level to make others fight each other.
The majority should make it clear - leave us alone to pursue life and love. This world should not have borders.
Gandhi's words ring loud and clear “The world has enough for everyone's need, but not enough for everyone's greed.”
Let us not end up with an epitaph after blowing all the blessings showered on us "casting pearls before swine"

That is so well elucidated Steve, thanks.
A peace treaty is signed after every war and the humongous losses in terms of human lives too and the ensuing misery.
Before the war, it is needling each other and spoiling for a fight.
Things get out of control soon. Ideology is worth more than human lives.
There are always pent-up issues to keep the embers burning.
The only way forward should be for people across the world to say unequivocally - no more wars. Everything to be settled by other means.
We should have a meeting ground with a borderless world of people opting for humanity and compassion above mindless killing.and savagery.
