It’s out…

The new iPad Air 5 is out which means my iPad Air 4 is old. Purchased this last year as a birthday present for myself and it’s worth all the money. I am just so happy with it.
Now there’s a new iPad Air. Should I replace mine? The answer is no. I haven’t abused this iPad yet and i use it only for planning, since I’m using a digital planner with the GoodNotes app. And I also use this for work to record my laborers payroll. At least they could sign on the iPad without me printing anything.
I’ll be using this for two more years probably before actually replacing it.

I believe it’s a wise decision indeed. I just don’t have a need for a new one.

@toniganzon - If I am not satisfied with something I have, I change, but if I am happy I keep what I have.

No sense spending money you don’t have to spend, if your current iPad is working just fine. Apple makes good products, so you should probably get a good long life out of it.

Actually, the gadget will last only 5 years until it becomes obsolete even if still working. That's why I sell mine normally before it reaches that period. So, I will use my iPad Air for two years more before getting a new one. Different story for the iPhone. I get it every year. It's the most used gadget that I own. So it must be replaced every year.

@moffittjc Right, imagine the operating software changing and upgrading every single year. It requires, more storage, and faster microchip.

@toniganzon Good point. The way technology keeps advancing, gadgets certainly have a limited shelf life now before they become obsolete.

@toniganzon Ah. Then you definitely need to make sure they are in working order then.

That's how I do with iPad, MacBook and Apple Watch, but not with the iPhone. With the iPhone I change every year, coz I always find it too slow for my use every time a new one is released.

@Tina30219 With my line of work, all those gadgets are a necessity for me.

There's no use replacing something if you've only had it for a while and it's not worn out or broken. That's what these companies do, they keep bringing new things out to keep you buying stuff. It's so much commercialism.

I do change my iPhone every year. But that’s because I use it all the time and the moment a new one comes out, the older one gets too slow for my liking.

@toniganzon I see. But I would have thought it would be very expensive to do that.

Yep as long as it works, i can still continue using my old one. I do plan to get a new iMac. iPad is something that I don’t really use that much. Not as much as my phone.
