People are more reclusive than ever.

I was thinking about this last night. A lot.
Of course the pandemic has made a lot of us more reclusive. And then, there is the violence many of us see in our cities and towns. Lack of funds for some of us is yet another reason.
After thinking about it all some more, I kind of blame texting as well. Way back in the olden days, we didn't text. We didn't have that option. But now, I am more than guilty of just texting rather than picking up the phone and calling someone. I know that since all my children are grown and gone and hold jobs, I text them and they text me. We do talk frequently of course, but I do know many people who would love to hear from people or get a phone call rather than a text, just to hear a human voice. My elderly neighbor told me the other day that she had not received a phone call in days and days, so I guess I'm lucky.
In some ways, we have made it so easy to isolate ourselves. I kind of like isolation from some of the people out there, like everyone else. But I do miss time getting together with friends. Just when I thought I might be able to start doing a bit of traveling when the pandemic eased, gas and money became an issue. I have always planned out my trips anyway, but now I plan for nearly every trip, grocery, necessary errands, and such. Little fun trips have pretty much gone by the wayside for now. But, I have enough to eat, I am warm and fairly safe. So are my loved ones and friends.
Warm weather will be here soon, and I can go outside more. We hope to plant a garden again. We've all done this a long time now, hopefully things will improve in the world and we can all get out a bit more. I love my alone time, but I do like to go places more than I am now.
Here's hoping for everything in our world to get better. Hope is important, I have to have hope.

@MarieCoyle That's really sad to know. I am sorry that happened to your grandma. That must have been very devastating.

I know when I go to the cemetery where they are all buried, I think of the heartbreak that truly had to be.

Both sets of my grandparents lived through the Spanish flu epidemic. One of my great grandmothers lost 3 babies in one year to it, a set of twins and another baby. My grandpa said she cried for an entire year. I can't even imagine.
We have to have hope.

I agree so much with all you wrote. I like being home and retired, but I miss being around people. We only have church twice a month and except for our son and grandson our kids live so far away.

I am trying to get out more now. I'm careful, I am fully vaccinated and boosted, and I like to go a few places. Oddly enough, I missed the book stores the most, just going to look at all of them and have a coffee and enjoy.

@MarieCoyle I love book stores, but there aren't any near us anymore. Most of them closed before Covid even.

I love being in a book store, whether or not they are for used books or new, does not matter. I just want to go there.

When I don't have hope, I don't have anything. Have to hope for everything to get better.

Yes, it did make it inconvenient. Lots of things seem to be that way now.

I must agree that home is the best place of all to be.
