I have had some plant based burgers in the fridge for a few months. There was no expiration date on the package, so I googled it. It said closed packages can stay in the fridge for 10 days. It has been more like 3 months so bye, bye plant based burgers. They looked good. I wonder why I didn't eat them? Do you discover food in your fridge you never ate and has to be tossed?

@snowy22315 Yeah my sister was saying that. I think they probably pretty decent and is the way corporate America wants us to go. Long live cows.

@LadyDuck I also found a cannoli dessert that I never ate. It is tightly sealed, but it has been in there for a few months. I doubt it is any good now.

@RebeccasFarm Well, possibly not! My grandparents hated to waste food. They would even eat spotty bananas and the like. Roomie is the worst though..he will leave a steak or roast out to thaw and never eat it..ends up pitching it. . It hasn't happened for awhile though.

I dislike throwing away food, but I do not want to get sick from something I shouldn't have eaten. Sister probably would have eaten it. She was telling me about this old food they found in the freezer and ate it. No Thanks, pass on that. It isn't like they are poor.

@snowy22315 No, I won't make myself sick either and am usually tossing things the day before they expire. Yogurt and sour cream seem to be the 2 items that get tossed before they are finished around here.

I'd throw them to the animals out in the yard. Once in a while, we do the exact same thing:(

Some of my veggies stay in my fridge for months. If they look good, I eat them.

Very rarely. My husband and I are good about eating everything we make so we rarely have leftovers.

No, I don't think any of them taste awful, but some are definitely better than others. I have eaten them off and on for years.

@snowy22315 I'm sorry it got to a point of tossing them out. I am guilty of this happening and I feel bad for it. Sometimes things get tucked away underneath other things and I forget.

some ridiculous things have sell by dates on these days , I dont go strictly by them...I mean what did we do before they started bputting dates on .My grandmother had a collection of mouldy jam that she scraped the "penecillin off" she lived to be late 80s so cant have done her much harm

That is true, but these had no dates on them. Better safe than sorry. Even if they weren't "bad" so to speak, they probably wouldn't taste very good.
