Happy St. Patricks Day

Top O the morning to ya and a very Happy St. Patricks Day. Even if you aren't Irish and celebrating today I hope you're having a good day. We're dealing with rain today which is always better than snow. My grandson is in the marching band at his high school and today they're marching in the big St. Patricks Parade in New York City. His school will be right behind the grand marshall and my big disappointment is it isn't being televised on our local tv station. We can access it through NBC live so I guess that's what I'm going to have to do when the parade gets started. I've always been a big fan of the St. Patricks parade in NYC and although I only got to march in it once I do love watching it on tv. It brings back memories of my dad. He and I would go to the parade every year and enjoy the day together. When my daughter was born I took her many times even though she was too young to remember. Of course it's been a zillion years since I've been to that NYC St. Patricks parade but having my grandson participating kind of brings back some old traditions. Talking about traditions....corned beef, cabbage and potatoes for dinner tonight (my oldest daughter is cooking) and of course Irish Soda Bread. Even the rain can't dampen my mood today While I have my coffee I'll leave you with this thought.... “May the best day of your past be the worst day of your future.” — Irish Blessing

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you! I hope you enjoy seeing your grandson in the parade! (It's always more fun to see people in person rather than on the television. The person running the camera never wants to look at the person we want to see!) My family have never celebrated St. Patty's Day. I always hated trying to remember to wear green so people around me wouldn't pinch me. I want people to keep their hands to themselves!

I forgot! Usually, I'll wear my bright green socks but I haven't gotten around to mending the hole in the toe. Maybe I'll search out my shamrock earrings to make up for it.

@LadyDuck I know lots of the celebrating behind st. Patrick Day is a myth but it doesn't stop us Irish from a day of hooting and hollering

I didn't know NYC televised a St. Patrick's Day Parade. I could have watched it had I known. I'm glad your grandson marched in it. I'm glad you did too once upon a time. I'm sure there are loads of memories surrounding it. I'm celebrating. I called to invite my son over for dinner. No cabbage for me, but I have corned beef, carrots, and potatoes in the crockpot. He doesn't know what time he can make it. I told him the food would be hot when he gets here. Top o' the morning/day to you too. I'm part Irish from my mother. So I am all decked out in green today.

Happy St. PATTY'S day to you too. The parade wasn't televised but I was able to go online and watch it on my computer at wnbc (which is NY channel) Hope you enjoy your dinner and the company of your son. Cooking in the crockpot certainly makes things easier

@Marilynda1225 My son couldn't come, and I forgot to turn on the crockpot so dinner was a bit late. Otherwise, I had a wonderful day.

Actually I think we celebrate it more here than they do in Ireland but when St. Patricks Day rolls around everyone gets to party.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Thanks! Ate my corn beef and cabbage already, too. It was a good day. Podietrist appointment went well, all good, no follow up appointment too. You must be so proud of your grandson, marching in the NYC Saint Patrick's Day parade!

Oh my gosh how incredible your grandson is in that parade. So exciting! Sounds like wonderful memories you have of that parade. I don’t recall ever watching it. My husband celebrated by drinking 4 Guiness and 5 Yuingling. I had none. It’s supposed to rain later today but I know until noon at least it supposed to be nice.

Ooh, I like that Irish blessing, and I hope you see your grandson on TV. One time my nephew was in the inauguration parade and I watched the whole dang thing to see him, and of course his band was one of the last ones. I missed my chance to get a set of Mason Jar glasses for a song, but anyway...I saw his band...lol.
