I have started getting serious, again, about finding out about my heritage. A few years ago, when I first started researching on ancestry.com, I found a 2nd cousin in Illinois on my mom's side. It turns out that my grandmother and her grandmother were sisters. We met 3 years ago and now we get to see each once a year. She is so much fun to hang out with.
Today, I found another cousin on my mom's side. Her grandfather and my grandfather are brothers. We live in neighboring states. I hope to someday meet her.
It is crazy to think of all the relatives we have never met or never knew existed.
Has anyone else found relatives through ancestry or the like?

It must be so interesting to catch up with distant relatives. I've just read your next post too about what you discovered about your ancestors.

I got a fairly good start right when the pandemic began, then all hell basically broke loose here with family, long story but I became a caregiver and wasn't really counting on that as I am not in the best of health myself. It is slowly getting better, so I have been trying in bits and pieces to get back to working on trees. I found my twin great-aunts, they are 88, both nurses....learned a lot from talking to them. I found some distant cousins. I also discovered I am related to some famous people I never was aware of. It's fun, I agree. I was rather hoping my Dad might have strayed (my parents were divorced when I was young) and I could find a sibling, but no such luck.
