Hi! Wow, I've missed being on myLot! Once again, I want to start posting regularly and read your posts too. It's been almost 8 months since I shared something for Weird Word Wednesday. Today's word is ostensible. I'd heard this word but I never learned its meaning until today. Oxford states the definition as "stating or appearing to be true, but not necessarily so." I thought of a scenario that fits that definition. I imagine a child who is perfectly healthy but fakes being sick so he can stay home from school. He has a terrible 'cough', a 'tummy ache', 'sore throat' and a very sad, stressed expression on his face. Ah yes, Mom lets him stay in bed to recover. Are you familiar with this word? Can you share a real or imagined scene to describe something ostensible?

I am glad to see you back, I missed your uncommon words. Let's share a scene: The ostensible reason for my niece to visit us was to check if we are fine, but the real reason was to go to the local Mall to go shopping.

Never heard this word before, Most days in this crazy world seem ostensible because you can never tell what is true or not.

Saving money is ostensible. But no one believes me. Even though I can prove it time and time again. lol

@BloggerDi Tell me about it. It's not like it is magic or anything, but tell that to someone who doesn't believe it. lol
