"Take a Chance on Me" was released in 1978 and was titled "Billy Boy" during the initial composition. This was one of the first ABBA singles that their manager did not help to write the lyrics.
Ulvaeus, a runner, would repeat "tck-a-ch" when running to pace himself. This eventually led to "take-a-chance" and to the eventual lyrics.
Billboard Magazine described the song as "one of ABBA's most busy, fast paced productions".
"Take a Chance on Me" hit #1 on the US Singles (OCC) chart, #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100, #5 on the US Cashbox Top 100 Singles and #9 on the US Adult Contemporary (Billboard) chart.
