Keeps me young

Who loves to go skating? In my older age, I still love to skate. Keeps me young. I have to admit, getting back on the floor was not easy after twenty years off of the floor. You don’t realize how good of shape you’re in when you’re young. I used to do the fancy “boogie skating” or “jam skating” as we used to call it back in the day. However, it has taken me over a month (consistently practicing) just to get one leg in front of the other on wheels. I have to say just the smell of a skating rink brings me back to my teenage years. I am truly grateful to go back to an activity I love so much!

That was my childhood - roller skating . I wanted to be the roller skating queen (on the sidewalk ). And as an adult I got into competitive figure skating which sort of fulfilled my childhood dreams . Glad you are getting back into it - enjoy jammin' .

I still ice skate a couple of times a year when the ice rink comes to town.
I grew up in Minnesota but live in a tiny west coast town now.
I use my rollerblades once in a while too. I haven't been on roller skates since 1979. I think in-line skates are more user friendly than roller skates.

I’ve never tried roller blading. A lot of kids wear those today. I’m super scared to even try, lol.

So much easier than roller skates. I'm 60 now and feel pretty comfortable. They respond like ice skates except the stopping part lol.

Trust me, I had to watch tutorials and get pointers before I got back on the floor. My balance was so off but going back to the basics of keeping your head up while on skates and bending my knees helped.

Sure you can! There are plenty of videos out here that teaches you the basics of roller skating. Once you get the hang of it, your fear of falling will deplete. Good luck!

That's great that you've been able to get to skating. I hope you get lots more pleasure from it.

That's what I feel when I go bowling. I feel ancient but the muscles twitch in a refreshing way.

No! Not in a month of Sundays! I wouldn't be able to do it because I've got no sense of balance!

Wow, I envy you. How I wish I also know how to skate. I really love watching skaters gliding and dancing on skating rinks at the mall. They look so graceful especially if they are in their skaters' attire. I think it is not bad of you doing the sport you love. Just be very careful.
