The Ongoing Rug Saga

(I wrote this Friday but forgot to post it) I have written several posts about the ongoing saga of our rug replacement situation. We have three cats and one will scratch the rug at my daughter's door during the night wanting her to let him into her bedroom. Sometimes we hear and sometimes we don't. So there was a horrible spot dug out in the rug that needed to be repaired. It got scheduled to be done and because of a miscommunication, it had to be rescheduled. Finally, it got done and looks very nice. We got the bill from housing and a payment plan. But, after the first payment, I decided to pay it a bit differently and let housing know. Not a problem and a payment plan(for legal reasons I suppose)would be sent out. So, I get a phone message from housing earlier this week saying a payment plan was sent out but there was a mistake on it and another one would be sent. So, I get one that was a completely different amount and I knew that wasn't correct and I just disregarded it. But, today I get another one that has a total amount due of nearly $1800!! We actually owe about 1/6 that amount. Can you imagine getting a bill for a $300 job that is $1800? Even if they had added the rent into this it still is not right. The office isn't open today so now I have to wait until next week to get this straightened out and a new payment plan sent out. It's a four-month plan and not a mind-bender at all. Hope they can get it right at some point. Last time we had to pay for some work done a payment plan wasn't even sent out. Geesh!!

I will just pay off what I believe is the right amount. Why I have to sign a payment agreement I don't know. Never did in the past.

@celticeagle Yeah. Never sign anything until they have it 100% correct.

This is so common and the sad part is that it always seems that there is no communication between the employees of the company so no one knows what’s going on. However, the consumers are the ones that pay the price for their mistakes. This is why I try to do things myself or ask people I know for referrals. I hope everything gets straightened out for you guys.

That's a good way to do things if you are able. Housing is the one that had this done. I am just paying it off to them and they can't seem to get the payment agreement right.

Monkeys running the zoo? I hope your daughter keeps her bedroom door slightly ajar so the kitty can come and go without destroying the repaired carpet.

It would seem. Never had such problems when Chris was my rep here. Word of mouth was enough. I am trying to get the cat-scratching situation obliterated from our reality. Ugh! Two cats doing it makes it doubly hard.

I will just pay what I believe to be the cost of repair and go from there.
