I also read a lot of mixed reactions from home spectators who posted their reactions on their social media accounts. Some think that Chis Rock deserves it for playing a joke about illness, while others express disbelief against the violence of any form.

@youless I totally agree that there should be another avenue or resort to do when confronting someone. I'm not sure if it's socially correct to say this, but I might feel the same urge as Will Smith if I were in his shoes. Joking about illness, disability, or appearance will never be acceptable to me, so much so if it is thrown against my family or loved ones. I'm a person who's very patient and understanding, but such remarks made in front of the world watching might make me lose it, too.

Some were shocked, some only surprised, some looked amused. Chris Rock did a very stupid joke, but I thought at first that Will Smith seemed to over react... until I read that it was not the first time that Chris Rock made stupid comments about his wife.

Well, that's making headlines all across the social media platforms. I was also shocked to read that. Seems like Will Smith overreacted. But then the joke was rude and insensitive. Seems like it was not the first time that Chris made such rude joke. Some even justified the slapping.

Another news making rounds is that it was all planned and an act for marketing. Anyway if it's so, it's in bad taste.

Ryan Gosling was laughing, smiling or smirking. I think he thought it was a joke that was why he may have reacted that way.
I like Charlize Theron's reaction though. It would have been my kind of reaction had I witnessed such a thing. Meryl Streep's reaction was priceless though.
