Thinking of Buying a New Music Album

My favorite band will be releasing a new album soon. It's been a long time since I last bought a physical album. I've always been listening to new songs through streaming services like Spotify and YouTube Music, so I've been contemplating whether I should get one again. It will certainly cost more than a month's Spotify subscription, but it will serve as a memorable collection. What do you think I should do?

I still have my favorite artists' CDs and cassette tapes even if I don't play them anymore. I'm thinking of putting a dedicated shelf rack to display them, but I still need to save up for the custom rack. If the album means so much to you, go for it! It's also nice to have something to put on display too, and one day look at it as a vintage collection. Although vinyl record is always the best one to collect.

@PhredWreck Wow! Awesome! I also wish I have my own collection of vinyl records. I just get to enjoy my aunt's vinyl records collection. She had it with her from her youth as well as the player. I get to use them whenever I visit our ancestral home.

@thehazelsister listening to music played from vinyl/cassette tape/CD hits different compared to the online streaming apps. I just can't explain it too, but It really hits different.

It reminds me that I keep a few Westlife cassette tapes at home (they were actually my dad's, but I love listening to them). Unfortunately, our sole Walkman broke down a few months ago, and I haven't had a chance to fix it. It feels different from listening to songs on a smartphone, don't you think so? Grr this is getting confusing. I think I'll leave it for a moment and reconsider my buying decision one more time, haha!

If you are such a big fan, you should go for it as a memorable collection. Something might be expensive but nothing beats their charm

I guess you're right. Well, looks like I'll have to start setting aside some of my income and cutting down my spending on snacks starting today, haha!

@thehazelsister Well, that depends on you. If you think that it's worth that, go ahead

@arunima25 Speaking of which, what was the last physical album you bought?

I mostly listen to music through streaming services, but every now and then I will buy a vinyl record to add to my collection.

Yes! It just feels so much different from adding your favorite songs to a playlist (or maybe it could just be me)!

Buy the physical album! I always buy CD's, I never do Spotify. I sometimes watch YouTube videos but I prefer CD albums.

@thehazelsister Well that's good if it gets them in the charts but there's nothing like holding a physical CD. I get Amazon vouchers from doing surveys so my CD's that I get from Amazon are basically free!

Streaming on music platforms is necessary if I want to see the band's songs on the charts. They are a small local group, and we, as their fans, want to help promote them because they are such a talented bunch of musicians! Their songs deserve to be known by more people! But, yeah, sales of physical albums are important as well. Still, they are expensive, so I have to save a lot.

I haven't bought cds in a long time. If you really want the cd, then buy it.
