I got to talk to an old crush last night!

I had a crush on her in Jr. High. At our Jr. High graduation dance, I asked her to dance. She got mad and thought I'd only asked her because Andy (my best friend at the time) has told me to. I realized in that moment that she liked me too!
This was 50 years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday.
I had dreams of having an honest-to-goodness girlfriend, and a pretty one at that, at only 13.
Then I got the news.
Her family was moving to Cincinnati.
I never saw her again.
My High School friend Allen and I have been going down memory lane recently, and he has contacted some of our old friends. He encouraged me to try to find her.
I did.
She's a Professor of Rehabilitation (still trying to figure out exactly what that is) at University of Hawaii.
I left her a phone message. She emailed me back. Last night we talked on the phone for two hours. We relived the old memories and also spoke of what we're doing now.
She's a cool gal!
I hope we get to do it again.
Will I ever visit her in Hawaii? I've actually never been there. Who knows?
Have you ever caught up with someone after decades? In this case it was someone I hardly knew.

Most law professionals don't consider stalking is "catching up with old friends".
I'm glad you had a good visit with her and she didn't turn you in for stalking. *DE wipes fear sweat off his brow.* At least we don't have to bail you out of jail this time.

They'd probably be honored to know you thought that well of them back then.

Oh, those middle school crushes. They do remain in our minds, don't they? I did catch up with one. Interesting.

@averygirl72 Even if we enjoy conversations and never meet again, it is good.

My first love and boyfriend all the way back in high school became my friend on FB and I was glad he had found his love and had a family. Not glad both he and his wife had MS but then that is how they found each other through a site. Proud of him when he went and got his university degree because he had not done so and finally sad when he got cancer and now is gone and we were born in the same year. I wonder if he might catch up to my soul mate and perhaps have some chuckle on my behalf I would like them to meet, Perhaps up there is has already happened,

@TheHorse I have heard it said that it is like stepping over the threshold into another room except that room is no longer here on Earth,

Good memories for sure.
I once met a friend 12.5 years after the seniormost class (class 12) of the school.
It was a good moment.
We had been in touch after that for at least 9 to 10 years.
In your case, any chance of a Hollywood style "Old Romance Rekindling"?

I had a boyfriend, at 13 years old. Willie was the only guy I'd considered marrying! When he went back to Houston, I never saw him again. A couple years ago, I went through Facebook and found that "Bill" is a happily married grandpa, who lives in Oklahoma:) His family photos are beautiful!

I'm not that old yet. But, a few years, I ran into an old who graduated high school a year or two before me. We lived in the same complex for a couple years before she had to move out. I moved out a few months later.

I've found some old friends from Jr. High and High School on Facebook. And a few former co-workers. I keep looking for old buddies from my first job and am having zero success. It frustrates me because I'm very hard on myself for letting myself get out of touch with people.

@wolfgirl569 Good to hear. We have a different perspective on things when we're "older."

It happened to me too, with the boy I first fell in love, although I had never admitted I was in love with him, at that moment. After 20 years we met in a social network and we laughed about it, so he heard for the first time I was in love with him....funny thing ...he told me it was the best I did not said anything, because he was a bad boy at that time (I liked bad boys) and I was a good girl...so ....
