Hello,
I have to tell you all about what just happened to me.
I was looking to sell my 2nd car and got a price from Carvana between $1400 and $2100. I was like okay a 2011 Kia Soul with 135,000 miles on it but they could not pick it up soon enough. My son had a friend that wanted to buy it but was fussing over the $1000 price I had given so fine I will find someone else. I then check out Peddle.com and they were offering between $1100 and $1700 but again could not pick it up soon enough.
I went on Carmax and checked and online they were offering $1300 to $2100 okay fine. I called them yesterday and asked if I could bring it today, Friday and they were yep and once they checked it out, they would make me an offer.
So, I went after work to get a battery since it would not start and that cost me $130. I was okay with it since I had no choice. I went to Carmax and they said it might be a little bit but they would check it out and let me know. About 20 minutes went by and they called me and started to point out all the flaws the car had. Well, I know that it’s 11 years old and has 135,000 miles on it, of course it doesn't look like new.
He says so with all that all we can offer you is $4000.00. He barely had the words out of his mouth, and I was like “DEAL”. He said okay, they will get the paper work together if I want to pull the car over to the service area.
My son and I walk outside to get the car and my son is like what just happened, I was like I have no idea but I will take it before they change their mind.
So, they gave me paperwork and a check for $4000.00. I don’t feel so bad about spending the $130 for a battery now. To say I am happy about that is an understatement. Oh and the bonus was I was there about an hour and was heading out with a check in my hand.

That is awesome! Cars are fetching extremely high prices these days it seems. There is a high demand for used cars right now due to the vehicle shortage. You scored a big win with such an older vehicle!

Prices are insane everywhere. Recently a friend tried to sell her deceased husband's pick up truck, 25 year old Ford, 190K miles. It was still a nice truck and he took perfect care of it. He had tried to sell it but people didn't want to give him much for it at all so he didn't. She sold it to Carmax for $3000. Like you, she said she agreed right away to the price before they changed their mind! We live in an insane world.
