Why did you do it?

A friend sent a chat from our alumni group to our private room. I found the girl, the messenger, making fun of an unnamed person and complaining of something unpleasant. My friend has tried to ask her what actually happened, but she kept going in circles and talking badly about the person. We eventually gave up digging for more information. I told my friend it was possible that our classmate did it on purpose to, I don't know, grab our attention, maybe? At the same time, I am sorry for the person who is said to be involved with the girl. Why did she do this? Why didn't she discuss any issues she had directly with the person? We wouldn't have to spend our afternoons messing about unimportant things if she had spoken in private and resolved her issues in a mature manner

You know there are 3 sides to every story. Yours, mine and the truth.

We needed to hear the truth, but we weren't allowed to

@thehazelsister It is never good to cover the truth and it is a shame not being able to listen to both sides.

It might be uncomfortable, but it's better than covering up the truth. We'll never know if the said person did something wrong to the girl because we didn't hear the story from both sides

Jesus' words at Matthew 18:15 agree with you:
'go lay bare his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.”
The purpose is to mend relationships and keep peace between people. Speaking in private, directly with the person involved is the kind, decent thing to do.

I hope people know this piece of wisdom by heart and practice it. It's very frustrating when people talk criptically and insist on keeping things vague. It gets even worse when the topic involves the other person in a negative light.

Sadly some people are very immature despite their age.

I would not appreciate that. Bad mouthing about someone at the back..I can't stand it. I don't want to be a part of it.

We had tried to be a mediator, but it didn't work I can't understand why she insisted on dragging someone else down.

@thehazelsister She might have been deeply hurt or maybe just doing out of jealousy or some misunderstanding. Whatever might be the reason, this is not the appropriate way. Issues between two persons have to be settled within themselves. Washing dirty linens in public is not good.

Communication is sometimes a lost cause. If only the people interested care to communicate genuinely, a lot of good things can happen.

@thehazelsister Yes, you are right. Understanding and compassion is key, and no judging too.

I couldn't agree more. If only they would communicate openly the misunderstanding could be solved.
