How long would she have waited?

Today a friend ‘phoned and asked if I had some tools she could borrow to help with a problem. So I gathered a few together and called round to her house.
When I got there her daughter (who was off school having had a tummy bug) answered the door. I asked if her Mum was in and she replied that she had just gone upstairs.
So she just stood there smiling and jiggling her baby brother and I explained I had come round to help fix the problem and then we made some small talk and we all smiled at each other a bit more until eventually I asked ‘Could you tell your Mum I’m here?’
At that she shouted to her Mum who came dashing down at once.
I just wondered how long we would have stayed there at the door if I hadn’t specifically asked her to pass on the message.
Children are funny sometimes!

Until you actually asked to talk with her mother? After all, you only asked if her mother was there. You didn't say you wanted to talk with her. so whose fault is that?

@Fleura Sometimes, with kids, you do have to be direct. They don't think like adults do.

@DaddyEvil and adults don't always think the same way either! I have learned that treating people the way you like to be treated is not always the right thing to do!

I like that so cute probably if the kid had not asked you to come in to play you would have wound up standing there for some time,

@Fleura actually her mum should tel her to call her right away and not speak to strangers these days standing at the door with someone she does not know can turn out to be dangerous

You remind me of how I evil I was (actually, I still am). Once we were invited by my father's boss for dinner. I was seven or eight. I naturally could not see the dishes placed on table. Nobody bothered to help me with food. I returned home starving. Not a morsel in my belly. Dad was not yet accustomed to looking after his child having lost his wife recently. So the next time that manager came to our place, I made him stand outside... and the laundryman, I asked him to come and sit. Evil Grin. Revenge. Dad was naturally mad at me, but he realized why ..so the slap came slowly. LOL

The problem my friend had was with erecting a rotary clothes line. She hammered the supporting stake into the ground, but then found that the hammering had damaged the top of the stake so that it would no longer fit inside the rest of the line to hold it up. We sawed the top off the stake and then it all fitted together fine.
