Secondhand Smoke

I hate cigarette smoke. My mom did too. She could become very rude if someone near her started smoking. Second-hand smoke is something smokers don't think about but it actually kills about 41,000 people each year. Even animals can be affected by it. Think of tiny babies and small children. Their little lungs aren't even completely formed yet.
I once moved into an apartment where the kitchen walls were a sickening yellowish-brown color. Took a lot of elbow grease to clean those walls. Yuck!

@celticeagle My dad smoked Kent 100s til about 4 years ago - quit cold turkey. My grandfather smoked too - but my dad often said he lived to his 90s "because" he smoked .

@celticeagle Oh yah, I forgot about that! I guess some will be fortunate to escape the health issues that most smokers will end up having!

When I was a kid mom and dad couldn't figure out why I always had allergic reactions. It never occurred to them that dad smoking in the house was the cause.

They didn't know much about such things back then.

I was around it a lot as a child because of my mother and her boyfriend at the time. They would smoke in the car and they didn't think it was bothering me. I would constantly get ear infections and they just thought that was something I just had. Until I went away for a week for summer camp or something like that and I had no pain in my ears. I pleaded to my mom that it was the smoke causing my ear infections and they both kind of didn't believe me, but if I was in the car they didn't smoke and surprisingly enough to them, I didn't get any ear infections unless I was by them smoking. So, not only does it cause problems with the lungs, but if a kid gets constant ear infections and they are around people to smoke, just don't smoke around kids or anyone who doesn't want to be near smoke.

Easier to just not smoke.
My mom smoked Raleighs for several years and then she quit. They had coupons.

@celticeagle I wish more people would, but can't really make choices for other people.

People with animals probably don't think about second-hand smoke. They should.
