Short Story: Decisions. Decision making

If randomness works, though, is it really random?

Franklin Jones had an important decision to make. He knew that if he made this there was no turning back. He had to make a decision that he would be happy with, and have no regrets about too. And so, he procrastinated, and he put off making this decision. He asked many people for advice. Then, about a month later, he bit the bullet, and he opened a large dictionary, at random. It opened at the word "go", which he took to mean to go ahead with his decision, and so he made it. This is not a good way to make a decision, as it leaves it up to a supposed divine intervention of guidance. This practice is called, "Bibliomancy." It is the using of books for divination. We are trying to determine an unknown answer for the unknown unknown, by our doing so. It does give us an eerie feeling up our spine, if this practice seems to hold merit to it, though, and if we randomly come across some relevant advice, by our so doing. Is there any truth in using this method, or is it just really merely only sooth-saying? inner guidance to be real must come from within not from without like this, and yet the without often does provide keys to your inner too. Here, the random opening of a page, is never really random. Your eyes, will guide you to a word subconsciously, and so to take notice of the word spotted, does hold some relevance to how your inner self is sitting in regards to this issue. Franklin wanted to go ahead with this decision, but he remained hesitant, and this method simply attached him to his positive side, and his real inkling to make the right decision, so it did work for him in this case too. Nassim Nicholas Taleb, the Lebanese-American essayist, and mathematical statistician, said this. If randomness really works, though, is it really random? As here in this story, other factors were at work here too.

Sometimes intuition and inspiration combine and give us a sense of knowing exactly what we have to do and put us on the right path, At times divine intervention can come along and lend a helping hand so to say,

I think that is true too. Intuition, inspiration, and rational thought too, must play a part. I was talking to a rationalist, and he told me that even divine inspiration still leaves us ultimately to make our own decision too, ourselves. Nothing, or no one, can make the decision for us. We need to make it, and to take ownership of our own decision-making, he told me.

I think intuition goes a long way. It’s our inner self speaking to us.

Yes, I do too, but we do need to use a degree of caution, and discernment, though too. If we start following advice, coming from inner voices, we might be fantasying too. We usually know if it is our inner self, as it comes via our hearts, and always has good intentions attached to it too. My Uncle heard voices telling him that he was Jesus Christ, come back again. He ended up needing treatment for his fantasising.

@RubyHawk Our nightly dreams are a sort of inner voice too, but we often need to interpret them. Sometimes, we need to listen hard to hear our inner voice too, as our mind is often playing its tunes too loudly, and so we take little notice of our inner voice. A gut feeling is an intuitional nudge too. My intuition either speaks to me as an inner voice, or as a feeling. I am going down a highway, and the voice will tell, me suddenly to go a different way this morning, which I will then follow. Later on, I find out that there was a major traffic disruption up ahead, on the usual way that I was heading. How does your intuition, and inner knowledge, reveal itself to you then, if not as an inner voice?

@innertalks I didn’t mean voices. I’m speaking of our intuition and inner knowledge. It never stirs you wrong.

My decisions are mostly well-considered but at times I have to go with my hunches. For me, who I meet has influenced me and even saved my day. I have found asking two for an opinion will elicit multiple options to confuse me. Some also try to read between the lines to come to the wrong conclusion. I don't believe randomness works, but then when pushed to the limit, I throw caution to the winds with come what may let me venture out to the unknown with the thrill of grappling with the unchartered territory. I have a broad yardstick for taking decisions - never be rash, benefit others too, be upfront when dealing with people, be honest, etc.

Well, Einstein famously said that God does not play dice with the world. So maybe, nothing is random, and everything can be explained, and has a reason for happening. And yet, perhaps even God would not know what lotto numbers will come up next draw. Some things are really determined by chance, and perhaps we should not let that type of chance determine our lives for us either, then. Sometimes, a sign can be seen as a clue which can help us though, sort of like brainstorming, what they do in business. Such random out of the box thinking can bring breakthroughs to us sometimes too.

@Shiva49 Unless, we are a fireman. We have to fight hells all the time in that profession. Some odds are too great to fight, but we can still live our best in dire situations too. Some people born without legs and arms, could not be wrestlers, for example, but they can still be speakers, and motivators, in their way too. Some might say karma is at work there, but other reasons might be at play too, I think too. A soul might agree to enter such a body to learn great humility, and persistence of their character too. Character, personality, attitude, are greater than the body, or vehicle that we might find ourselves within. I think that there is nothing random about our birth, our parents, our country, anything like that about our lives. God would never just grab then, all of the different elements, possible for our lives, throw them into a bucket, and then just lucky dip from the bucket, to apply them to someone's coming life either, I would think.

@innertalks I have met a few who have left a profound impression on me. I don't know whether it was predestined or just randomness. Then being born at a particular time at a particular place matters too as circumstances can make or break us. This applies to artists as some have no way to express their talents while some less talented manage to win accolades. I think what matters is perseverance and the will to overcome all odds to pursue our passions. And if we feel we are going through hell, keep going as hell should have an exit door too!!!
