Because the first thing they always say about her is that she is 'the first black woman on the Supreme Court' (I know--'she "will be,"' as she's not 'in office' until the next term begins on October 3 (and it took 3-or-4 searches to get THAT date and not 'the date of the articles that announced his future-retirement)--but this'll be here for 'years to come').
Granted, this is probably attached to the fact that President Joe Biden's announcement that the next Supreme Court Justice would be "a black woman" (before we even knew for-sure WHICH black woman he was nominating).
I guess their feeling (sorta) the way sports-followers felt back when they started letting Black men on the basketball-court. (Except they didn't have TV-coverage ... so 'the fact that basketball used to be an all-white sport' might not even be "a fact," but more "a rumor of history"---just like the "fact" that George Washington admitted to chopping down a cherry-tree.)
Oh, they usually 'back-bite/balance-off' their racial-announcement with the news that "she is the first former defense-attorney to join the Supreme Court," and they probably also mention the TONS of qualifications she has; but every time I hear them tell us how important it is that she's a black woman, I hear MJK Jr. roaring from beyond the grave "... Judged Not by the Color of their Skin, but by the Content of their Character"

What? she is black so why she should not be on supreme court and also why would Martin Luther king be mad about that, because she is is black. Last I heard, he was black too I actually watched a little bit of that and her answers were amazing. So if you going the route of affirmative action you are wrong and she definitely qualified.

I explained what was wrong in the description---how the anchor-people announce it wrong.
; should I edit it to include the statement that it is NOT wrong for her to be on the Supreme Court?

@mythociate So you just mad Biden appointed her like affirmative action. Is that what I am getting? I thought she was qualified, show me someone better than we can really argue.

Disgusting when Biden announced he would 'put the first black woman on the Supreme Court'. What about the most qualified. I don't care what color she is, this is a lifetime position for goodness sakes. I would have been insulted if I were a candidate. Only the skin color was the qualification for the position it seems. And no, I am not racist, I have black and brown and all colors of friends.

And she happens to BE the most qualified ... at least as qualified as the most-qualified of the current Justices!

@CarolDM Maybe a little, but not if you consider 'amount of experience' a qualification (as she's been a clerk or attorney or judge at nearly every possible level of court).

Everytime I hear an anchor announce "Ketanji Brown Jackson will be the first Black female Supreme Court Justice," I want to know how many times these people have announced that another judge "will be the nth WHITE MALE judge on the Supreme Court!"?
