I'm not into pot. I can't smoke it because I have bad asthma. I've had some edibles (gummies, mints, brownies, etc.) and it just doesn't really do it for me. If I want to relax I'd rather just have a couple of cocktails. If my anxiety at work or for flying is bad then I'd rather have a Xanax. Anyway I've read a couple of brief articles about the whole situation just purely out of curiosity. I think people 21+ years old can buy up to an ounce per transaction in whatever combination of bud, edibles, oils, etc. Driving under the influence laws apply for legal marijuana use though I don't know how law enforcement would be able to determine how high someone was aside from using field sobriety tests and drug recognition experts--both of which are entirely subjective. A positive urine test would just prove that someone had smoked/ingested/whatever pot within the past month. Some businesses and government agencies have announced that employees who test positive for pot use will lose their jobs. I know the Jersey City police department has said so. My dad drives a school bus for team games, field trips, etc. and has to take random drug tests. He'd get canned even if he used pot on his own time. Teachers in my district cannot be compelled to take a drug test (at least not without good cause) so we are exempt from the situation which is a good thing because several of my coworkers are bonafide pot heads. The closest dispensary to this area is an hour in like every direction. Even if I did like pot I think I'd pass on that. Why drive an hour for expensive and heavily-taxed pot when I can literally walk around the corner to a liquor store for much less expensive cold beverages and lottery tickets? I wonder how the whole medical marijuana card thing will go now. My mother (and several pot head coworkers) have paid a lot of money to be approved for medical marijuana. Apparently to maintain the card in NJ requires several doctor appointments each year which are NOT covered by insurance and then of course they pay the premium for the pot from dispensaries. I wonder what the motivation would be to continue with all of the visits and extra expenses if people can just get it now "recreationally". Oh well. It will be interesting to see how this all develops. Like I said it won't affect me but this is going to be all new to my state.

I think it's fine for those that can't be helped medically in any other way.

I took edibles when I was bone on bone in my hips before surgery--it kept me off the major pain pills--and I found that a little bit of edible helps me sleep at night--I have always had a difficult time sleeping and hate to take sleeping pills--so this is a godsend
