My Side Hustle/s, Part Two - Art

Hi, and welcome back to my posts on my side hustles. Besides being a writer, a lot of you who have interacted with me here or on other sites probably know that I am also an artist. I suppose that I am actually an artist first, as I did get a college degree for that (BFA - Bachelor of Fine Arts).
Of course, you don't need a degree or even a formal education to be good at art - it's just something that helps you get extra training and also helps you learn more about art in history and concept.
But even though I went to school for it, I'm not, and really never have, worked full-time as an artist. I came close when I was teaching art at the local community college, but that was a part-time job, and even though I have always done portraiture on commission and also privately tutored students in art, it didn't bring in enough of a steady income to live on. I currently have an administrative job that pays well, but as I expressed in Part 1, I would really rather look toward building an independent income.
The ways I am currently trying (and planning to try) to earn money from my art are Etsy, Facebook, Pinterest, Patreon, Print-on-Demand (POD) sites like RedBubble, TeePublic, or Teespring, and possibly YouTube or my own website. Instead of putting over half a dozen links here, I'll just save space and say I think you can find ALL of those sites by just putting in the names plus .com. In the further interest of not making this one post really, really long, I will go into more detail on each of those in upcoming posts.
Thanks for hanging out with me. Hope you like my artwork, above!

That’s fabulous. I admire anyone who has that talent, as I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler! I hope your “side hustle” does well for you, because you certainly have talent!

Thank you so much! I like drawing the portraits, although I've decided it would be more fun to just draw or paint whatever I want to and see it I can sell it. Much chancier, though!

Thanks! Graphite doesn't photograph as well as I'd like, but it's an easy medium to work in.

@AliCanary I'm surprised that you aren't busy all the time with portraits, etc.

@AliCanary Have you ever tried to sell completed pieces at a flea market?

You are very talented! Etsy is a great site to open a shop on to sell your work. Do you plan on seeing if your community has art shows. That might be an outlet to show off your work.

Thank you! Sometimes I participate in art shows, but due to my usually working on commission, I don't actually have a lot of finished art hanging around. I do a decent amount of sketches, but not the kind of larger, finished pieces that would sell. I guess I need to devote more time to that.
