Update!!!! Another update! It’s toasted and time to give my television its last rites

I posted about my dilemma on Facebook. A friend suggested that while my tv was on to unplug it and plug it in again. It worked! That saved me $400+
Sat down to have a quick lunch, turned on the tv to watch Transplant, which I recorded last night. Fifteen minutes into the show my television died.
We bought this television over 8 years ago. So I guess we look for a replacement. There are some out there that are reasonably priced for under $400. I'll order it and pick it up later.
Not that I have an extra $400 laying around, but I look forward to watching certain shows.
How do you handle unexpected surprises? Go out and replace it immediately or wait?

Yes usually I use my credit if I have to, but only if I have to.
You need your television and I am so sorry to hear this happened.
Let us know what kind you get.

Little Miss enjoys watching her favorite shows too. I do have a smaller tv in our bedroom that she can watch her shows on.

@RebeccasFarm she is something! Came out of her bedroom this morning and asked to watch television. Her face melted when I reminded her that it is broken.

I prefer Blu-Ray movies at times. If the movies' good, that is.

I hope that you can find a replacement soon and for a good price.
Usually when something gets to a certain age, or starts to show signs of not working properly, we usually watch for sales in an attempt to replace the item before it completely gives out on us. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't.

I’ve had a feeling that the screen was going to go. I was watching what was available and found something that was reasonably priced. Now to sell my husband on it.
He is going to look at it when he gets home.

We don't watch television so that wouldn't bother us. My laptop is getting old and I do use it every day. My daughter gave me one I bought for her a couple of years ago. It's still in the box... Hopefully, it will last me for a while.

@ElusiveButterfly The one I've been using is eight or nine years old. Hopefully, the new one lasts as long.
