NJ will allow off-duty cops to use marijuana

Recreational weed became legal on Thursday. The state attorney general sent out information to law enforcement officials stating that the state forbids any employer from punishing employees for using recreational pot as long as they remain sober at work.
The mayor of Jersey City has already said that city police officers will be fired if they test positive for marijuana at any time. He has said: "If somebody wants to test us as a city and an administration, they're more than welcome, but they certainly know where we stand and they can expect long litigation over it."
I honestly don't care if police officers use pot on their own time. They are allowed to drink on their own time. They are allowed to smoke on their own time. Evidence of pot use stays in your system for like a month. I don't know if there is any way to test in real time like you can do with a breathalyzer.
I'm sure the Jersey City mayor's decision will be challenged in court. We shall see.

Should be interesting how that plants out since it does stay in the system.

As long as city employees come to work sober, I have no problem what they do when they are off the clock.
