Some people don't care about the news very much and some of them even avoid the bad news.
In the past I was the same but I have changed. The news is quite important even if it is the bad news. Today I spend more time on the news. At least it gives you some information to make up decisions, such as the investment, living conditions and so on.

Broadcast journalism isn't all about the news. It is also all about the sensationalism of ratings. There is always going to be unpleasant news. And
you do need to be aware of what is going on around you, and I need to know what is happening around me. But we do not need to know what is happening in areas we don't live in unless it directly affects us.
Have you heard about "all the mass shootings in America"? I live in America and wouldn't read or hear about all the mass shootings in America if they were only reported where they should be - in the broadcast areas in which they occurred.

@averygirl72 Perhaps bad news can make people keep alert.

@youless Why is the news like that. Why they are not highlighting the good things that happen during the day not the bad things that happen in the day. Maybe because they catch more attention but it is full of negativity

I watch the news occasionally, and entertainment ones too.

It is important to stay informed--otherwise, how can you make decisions?

Yes, and weather conditions too. I watch local to news that has half hour after it, world news.

I think news is good to a certain extent. We can't be like ostriches burying our heads in the sand if something upsets us, but being addicted to news programs is another thing. It can make your fearful.

I have seen people listening to news for those reasons. I like to be informed and mostly, I want to know what I can still do for my planet.

My (now deceased) father was a newspaper journalist, editor, and photographer, so there isn't a day that goes by that I do not watch, listen to, or read the news.
