Lunch with a friend and my new cap

We lunched with a friend today. In 2016, His wife had virtually insisted that I have a party for my 70th birthday. She said by the next significant birthday, some friends might have passed away and we may not be in such good health. So we had a small party which was very enjoyable. Then, within the year, she had passed away from pancreatic cancer. Prophetic words indeed.
When we got home, there was a parcel on the doorstep. It was the cap that you see in the photo. I bought it online from Wish. The postage cost as much as the cap. I spent of total of $A6.00 which I thought was incredibly cheap. I have a similar type of cap which I wear a lot but it needs a wash and I’m not sure how it will like being washed in the machine.
I thought for that price I would treat myself to a nice clean cap. I also have a black felt one in a similar style which I wear in winter. I prefer this style to the more common baseball cap. It looks a bit funny in the photo but looks okay when it's on my head.

Ah, life, enjoy it while we can as we never know what can happen. I'm so sorry about your friend.
I have a couple similar caps, but I think they are half as tall. I am not sure how to wash them either - it feels like the front rim part has cardboard in it .

@JudyEv You are right, like I lost my husband all of a sudden. One of my friends lost her son all of a sudden in an accident. No one knows when and where we loose our dear ones and friends.

@aninditasen I am sorry you lost your husband. Was it long ago? I'm sure you miss him whenever it happened.

@JudyEv Do we get to see a selfie? It reminds me of those caps worn in the movies...I can't remember what country.

My brother is feeling that way, due to us losing our childhood friend. I have heard you can successfully wash hats in the top rack of a dishwasher.

your friend may have knew but not wanted to tell you, or she didn't know but knew deep down inside. At least you guys got one good big celebration before she passed.
As for the cap, it looks like its the kind of fabric khaki pants are made from, I would wash it in cold and air dry it, I think it will do just find in the wash. enjoy your new hat though!!

Perhaps my friend had a premonition about her illness.
As for the hat, I think the brim might have cardboard in it and that might get ruined if I wash it.

I would love to have that type of cap. It sad to know that when we reach 70 years some people in our lives will soon die too

Yes, we need to make the most of the time we have left.

When I first glanced at the photo after reading your post, I thought the cap was made out of leather, and thought that you would ruin it if you washed it. But I guess it's made out of cloth/canvas or whatever you call the material normal baseball-style caps are made out of?

@JudyEv That’s how I usually wash my hats, in the top rack of the dishwasher.

That’s a super deal and a nice treat for yourself!
Your friend was absolutely correct. I think of all the friends I’m missing today that were here just a few years ago.

I think you should have a party or even just a gathering with your friends. It is easy to let things go too long.
